id say it would and somewhere in the big wide world it would have been done , run a search in google.

at the end of the day if you have the skills to do something any engine can fit in just about anything.... good luck

well the answer is yes it will fit. search for other engine conversions that the engine does not bolt into and youll see what things are needed to make the thing work....

With enough money and imagination, anything is possible.

I would love to see this done...

I think it might fit, I have not measured up anything..

If you can get the motor and gearbox, what would be left, the mounts, x member and custom shafts.

The mounts might be easy enough, many people have made mounts for motors to fit different bays before.

The shafts, there are places that do custom shafts using mix n match parts at decent prices.

The x member I guess can be hacked and re-welded together if it does not clear the sump.

How big is the bay and how big is the motor?

you dont need to modify any of the steering shit for fwd conversions, you shoudlnt have to touch the x member either, just make the mounts.

bobob x member wont need to be hacked
new shafts are usualy billet not mix and match.

and theres a few more things than mounts, and driveshafts

wiring , exhaust just to name a few.....

at the end of the day for the money and trouble your going to go to i could think of 100 different engines that are better all round engines...but it depends what you want out of the car and what you want to use it for...

School Holidays already lol, yes it will fit, but by the time you do it the car will owe you almost Sportivo or used Celica money anyway.

You realise if you don't get the orginal keys and barrel the stock ecu won't work and thus the only way for the engine to be useful is to fork out for something that can control VVTLI, being atm a Motec, Autronic, and possibly a high end Wolf or Haltec.

It'd be an awesome car if done properly at the end of the day but you'd be looking at a $20,000 investment assuming you'd be doing brakes and suspension properly too at which point you ask yourself why did I bother when I still own a 20+ year old rolla that creaks and rattles and has rust issues.

A microtech LT8s has 3/5 ths of fuck all chances of running that engine properly they can not run VVTLI, VVT setups like a 20v yes.
