BBQ in my engine block - all invited

The nothing but trouble car update...
I need some opinions on what to do please people!
So, no longer fuel in the sump, this was corrected by rewiring the e. fuel pump into the ignition rather than having it as a seperate switch.
Engine is a 2tgeu with twin solexes btw.
Anyway now I have no fuel topping up my oil I can clearly see the smoke she is blowing is blue, and worse than ever, and the oil burnt in a week and a half was an entire sump full
Umm yeah - so obviously the engine is in trouble...

OK opinions on what to do please?
Who would spend the money to rebuild/re-ring w/e the engine, and who would just say fk it and replace (and what could I put in for a similar cost to a rebuild - keeping in mind I am a student!)

Thats not cool

They tend to lose oil from either the rings or the valve stem seals. 2Ts like to wear the rings.

I personally would rebuild it, just cause they are such a cool engine.

Depending on if you can remove and install the engine yourself (or with help from other toymodders ) it shouldnt be _too_ expensive to get a basic rebuild done.

re-build time!!! cos ur sure as hell not gonna find a cheap 2tg laying around that doesnt need one, if its your daily driver id either source the parts while its driving and just use a heavier oil 20w-50 or heavier if ya can find it, then take her off the road for a week making sure you have access to a lift/borrowable car, then pull it apart

or if ya dont wanna do that take it to a mechanic/engine workshop and get them to do it although that isnt cost effective

rebuild. it might cost a little extra in some ways, but in the end, its ready for another 300,000+ kms

I have pretty limited mechanical expertise - would it be possible to rebuild it myself with a lot of advice and instruction?

a running one should only cost a couple hundred bux, and then 1 day to swap the engine.

other than that, if you have the money, give it a full rebuild. this way you know the engine is good and it will last.

if you found a workshop manual which included that engine, then i don't see why you couldn't rebuild it yourself. However it wouldn't happen overnight, and if you need the car for a daily, i'd just hand it to a mechanic.

Provided the engine atm isn't rattling like a... rattle, the just ensure the oil is topped up and hope that someone doesn't dob you in for smoking like a chimney.

wouldnt advise rebuilding an engine with limited experience. it just takes one loose bolt for catastrophic consequences. although if you know a mechanic and they are willing to show you and guide you then your set.

Basically if you can get the engine out of the car your best bet is to send it to a reconditioner. You could even remove the inlet, exhaust and things like the alternator to make it easier for them and cheaper for you.

They will pull it apart, clean it, machine it, replace things like rings and bearings and put it back together.

A basic rebuild will be crank bearings honed or machined bores and new rings, depending on how bad it is.

You can keep driving it - just make sure that it doesnt run out of oil (keep it topped up). Being a Toyota you could probably drive it for a decade like that if you really wanted to with no real issues.

I would trade beer for help - but none of the mechanics that have been through work (liquorland) wanna play *LOL*....Actually there may be one guy I could ask, but I dont know him really well, and its hard to trust people with my car!

Now that's something I hadnt thought of - sending it somewhere...theres only two reconditioners in town, neither of which wanted to do it (kept losing my details when I asked for quotes - you know what I mean) and with little competition they are slowwww and expensive!
