Yeah, another idea that was flaoting about in my head too....
Must say, that would look quite nice Norbs, (except fro the MPH guage)... but would it fit inside the xA6x dash space?
I have a steadily growing pile of Autometer gauges I was planning to install on top of the dash, but I'm having serious thoughts about buying a speedo and a tacho and making a whole new instrument cluster. It would certainly work better than the factory stuff (especially speedo) and would look hella cool to boot.
The gauges I have (water temp, oil temp, oil pressure) are Carbon Fibre series, so continuing that theme, check out how cool this quick mockup looks:

That's a good question, I'll have to investigate that. The above would require dimensions of approx 16"x 6"... does anyone have an MA61 instrument cluster handy to measure? I have a feeling it's a fair bit smaller than that.![]()

MA63 analogue measurements (rough)
Measurements are:
Across top of face: 290mm
Height: about 175mm
Across the bottom of the face: 330mm

I'm keen to get a new gauge cluster in my ma61 too. The "clear" plastic over the whole section is not very clear anymore, and the placement of the digital tach means I can't see it behind the steering wheel :/
Custom dash anyone....
Forming a larger gauge hood section in place of the the current one wouldn't be too difficult for someone with those skills would it?
Gives you more space for gauges, and they'd sit higher, more in your field of view when driving.

I know what you mean mate, I also have the steering wheel where it feels right for me and it cuts off the top part of the digi tacho (the curvey bit) but ahwell I don't look at it that much now anyway. Unless maybe trying to launch but that's rare for me aswellOriginally Posted by lojik
Get a better steering wheel then

dont bother the US version will have the speedo cable in the wrong spot, the speedo cable mount is a moulded part of the dash and PITA to relocateOriginally Posted by Viper
for the trouble of soucing and getting one posted out then moving the speedo cable mount a RA65 dash would be much easier

Ignoring the whole MPH thing, the US dash is reverse, which means the speedo cable input will not line up with the one in your car.
You need a japanese/singapore dash.

Digital and Analogue gauge fuel senders are different.
Good thing is that the RA65 sender should be compatible with the japanese/singapore dash.
You mean pressure, not temp, but correct.Originally Posted by Viper

ohh and on the subject of a full autometer cluster, i have yet to see an old school car with a good autometer cluster setp, people always forget to realise that:
OLDSKOOL == SUNKEN GAUGES
protruding gauges == teh aidz, and not the good aidz from nice clean gheys who go to the gym all the time but the strain of aidz from a retarded p00 monkey
not that my rant is really relevant to the MA61 80's dash.

I totally agree, digi guys want analogue, and vice versa.Originally Posted by RObErT_RaTh
I love my digi dash, I've even started calling my car "Kit" and trained it to talk.
This is a really far out, witty and clever signature.
