Are they for the turbo? i thought you only found transmission coolers in the bottom of radiators?
Hey Iam about to replace the stock radiator on my MA70 7mgte and need some help in working out which line from the turbo for the water cooling is fill and drain as there is 2 lines that are connected to the base of the radiator one on each side does anyone know which way the water flows???is it the way I have drawn the arrows on the pic below???

yeah I am not sure can't quite see where they run might go to the transmission but I just figured they went to the turbo regardles gotta work out the water flow either way coz the new radiator don't have the holes gotta rig somthin up so if anyone can tell us where the lines run to and the way the water flows?????? would be much appreciated!!!!Originally Posted by thechuckster
they are transmission 110%
Water cooling for the CT26 comes off the thermostat housing where the top pipe for the radiator attaches to the engine ...

So if they both go to the transmisson are they both feeding it???
correct, same theory as the radiator ... its a cycle
is there 2 lines coz ones for transmisoin and the other for the turbo?? and with the new radiator I have that is for a jza70 it only has one line??? would there be a problem with running the 2 off one line from the bottom of the radiator or should I setup a second one??

Was the JZA70 manual?
The two at the bottom are likely to to for any auto, one in and one back out.
iam not sure if it was manual but is one line in and one out I need to find out coz if they are both feeding it won't be much of a problem if I can run both from the one on the new radiator some one please HELP ME!!! I need to install the new radiator to many leaks drivin me crazy!!!
As coFF33 said those are trans oil cooler lines. If your new radiator doesnt have 2 (and if the one it does have is actually a drain) then chances are it's a manual radiator. Changing radiators wont require you to touch the turbo cooling lines, so dont!
If you find that it is a manual radiator then youre going to need another way to cool your transmission fluid. Most effective way would be a trans oil cooler, a little coil (like a radiator) that you can attach to the two lines currently connected to your radiator. You'll find that about 6 inches awat from the rubber hoses connected to your radiator are hard pipes, simply remove the short rubber hoses from these pipes, work out where youre going to put your trans cooler, mount and get some rubber lines to suit this new position
Or get a proper auto radiator
Edit - those hoses dont have water in them either, you'll get a nasty shock when you take them off if thats what youre expecting![]()

hey whatthe the radiator I have has a drain then another hole on the other side of the outlet on the bottom of the radiatorthen what is this for?? please help me thanks

Looks like it plumbs into the bottom tank. Water temp sensor port perhaps? In an auto radiator it has a separate chamber (away from the coolant) for the auto trans fluid to pass through and be cooled by the water in the tank above
That's definitely not a factory radiator and I'd bet it was attached to a manual (or an auto with an external trans cooler). Whatever you do DONT connect those hoses in your car to that! If you dont have an external temp gauge youre going to have to get a bung to block that up

So if I run a transmission oil cooler what size coil would you suggest??? and thanks heaps whatthe!!!
Have a look at eBay, there's heaps. Most come with mounting kits to allow you to strap them to your radiator easily. Alternatively ring MV automatics in SA, they have kits available with full instructions and hoses, mounts etc. The one I'm putting in my car is about 30cm square, although a smaller one would do the job if you wish. At any size, a proper trans cooler will do a better job of cooling the fluid than the radiator setup you have at the moment, which in turn will make your auto last longer![]()

yer, Auto rad doesnt have a drain for the tranny section , just 1 for the coolent...
you have something aftermarket there Spool , your local quality auto parts store (not supershit etc) will have coolers, round the $160 mark if i recall correct.
Pop one of them on and she'll be sweet![]()
