A setup such as that will technically work, but the near constant whooshing would get old very quick. You'd have to bleed a shitload of air off and it will sound like a turbo car when a cooler hose has popped off.
not as big a waste as you thinkOriginally Posted by stradlater
it sound sliek you are bleeding off 2psi of air, but in fact, you would just be bleeding off extra air at 8psi... since the pressure differential before and after the BOV will be very small.
so the amount of energy used by the SC, wirth air bleeding off to keep it at 8psi, will be less than used to pump the same amount of air at 10psi... (since you have 2psi less trying to force the rotors back the other way)
what you could do.. is to have the TB after the SC... and then a second TB in front of the SC to regulate the amount of air going in, and have that controlling the boost level![]()

My question being, on any form of street car, why bother?? I mean really, how many of you drive with your car on low boost?? I've never used one other than to turn the boost up and leave it there. Your right foot controls the power anyway, just make as much power/boost as possible/reliable, and use it accordingly, if you don't want full power, IE most boost it will run, then don't use full throttle!!

Couldn't have said it better. A boost controller with a "low" setting is like building a 500hp V8 then putting a brick under the throttle pedal. Seriously, why??Originally Posted by 6BOOST

oldcorollas: Yeah, your right, I didn't think about that, You'd just be bleeding off anything over 8psi..
But yes, like the others said, there's no real need.
And I imagine it would be more of a whistle rather than a whoosh, given the fact that it's a small amount of air gradually being released, rather than a whole lot immediately being released.
I think he wants it for the missus driving.
A far easier option is to simply have a piece of wood under the gas pedal.

Or if its a toyota blower like the sc12 and 14, put a switch in for the charger clutch![]()
Yeah, that works too.

Easy, you either bleed off unwanted air, as suggested, of have the throttle in front of the blower and then control the throttle. How? Electric throttle.
A switch would be good too, But is that possible on a twin screw?Originally Posted by kingmick

Not possible if it dosnt have a clutch![]()
If it's not fitted with a clutch pully, hunt around and get one from an aircon pump.
Then just switch it off when the other half is driving.
If it feels good "DO IT" Unless it harms others.(or upsets the RTA)
Enjoy what you have To Day,cause you can't take it with you.

if it doesnt have a clutch,
small external wastegate would work, parallel with the SC. albeit with a really weak spring.
connect an electric solenoid to the wastegate sense line to isolate when you want max power
