Default Dump pipe hitting steering - MA61 1JZ

    Hi

Test fitted the 1JZ into my MA61, with a after market dump pipe installed.

    this is what happens:

Any good ideas on a solution? - I'd like to keep the dump pipe if possible.

    thanks
    David

and I thought my extractors were close to the steering column!

Basically some form of modification. Hammer love in the side might give you some clearance at the cost of reduction in diameter. Otherwise you could try to heat it and bend it, or cut and weld at a different angle. Either way, you can't leave it like that

if you want to keep the dump, remove the steering component that its hitting. .
i wouldnt think one would need to get opinions on how to fix this problem.

Get a new dump. Even if you can modify that one to give adequate clearance it will still be too close. Dump pipes get HOT!

Yeah - a real bunch of champs

The only two things I can think of is either raise the engine up (spacers in the mounts) and see if it clears, or, as suggested, replace the dumps.

    raise the engine?
A dump pipe cannot cost you that much... get a new one (or weld new bits on to your current one)

Maybe good for flow but not good for you

You could mod it, but you would have to look at if it was cheaper to sell it and get a custom one made.
