Cruise Water Temp, increased over the last couple of weeks...

well atleast i think it was....

I just checked the thermostat i pulled out of the car, and its rated at 82degrees.....

I 'think' the thermostat in the car now is an 88degrees....

Also the 1.1Bar cap did nothing.

ok just looked up the part number for the thermostat i put in the car.

Its a 82degree thermostat as well. (Dayco DT39A)


So from here, i'd dare say sensor could be faulty? (its the next easy option....)

im afriad you are living in the wrong world eldaro, what can you write off on wages to cut such tax, the investment house etc is about it... contracting the sky is the limit if you have the knowledge on how to do it properly....

thats hella sus, the cap does bugger all, like i said, the strange thing is that it STAYS at the new increased temp, and doesnt just keep going up!

maybe just keep an eye on the fluid levels and the temp, then do something about it if it gets any worse?

Well as i've said, it isn't using any coolant, and it isn't getting any hotter. And obviously not overheating.

The other side thought i've had, is that i've had an exhaust leak around my turbo, possibly the hot exhaust is blowing over the water sensor (its located at the back of the block)

Its going in for turbo work tommorrow, and then dyno time, ill just have to keep a good eye on the temps.

I suppose ill just have to get over it. The sensor i can sort out cheaply from a wrecker, after that ill worry about it.

What are your intake temps like?

With my intake temps around ambient (30deg) she sits on ~89degC

If I get that intake temp up to 30 or 40deg above ambient (mid 60's) then she goes up to 99degC.

intake temps are about the same as ambient, like the drive just before was around 28-29 degrees.

idling it was around 45-50 due to heat soak.

if it started doing it after you swapped the thermostat it could just be that its a few deg different? as long as it doesn't climb, i wouldn't worry about it..

only other thought i had was how good the connection to the temp sender is.. whether it got better or worse when you had to move it or something?

nope it started doing it even before i swapped the thermostat.... i changed the thermostat to try and solve the problem.

Yeah, ill check all the connections again tommorrow, and then try another sensor.

didn't by chance change the calibration in the dribbletech at some point?

could just be hotter air around is heating up the back of the sensor more?


edit- you haven't changed the tune in that time have you? leaned it out on cruise?

Microleb doesn't have any sensor config.
your second statement, is a possibility........

its a remote possibility, but we are only talking about 2 deg here.. and a 10 deg increase in ambient temp.. it might just be that its making everything hotter... 2 deg i really wouldn't worry..

sorry to bring this back from the dead....

But it appears to be getting worse!
Since i last reported these are the things that have been done to date
Changed coolant
Changed Water pump
Changed Thermostat
New Larger Radiator
Changed water temp sensor

All these have done squat. Cruise water temps have been at 92degrees flat for a few months since the radiator work. But now cruise water temps are starting to creep upto the 92-94 degree area.

One thing i have noticed is that the water temps drop substantially when i put my foot into it and get some revs in, dropping to as low as 88degrees sometimes. So I'm pointing my finger at an inefficient water pump, and going to buy a Davies Craig electric water pump to fit inline with the stock pump. Another thing i was going to try is to drill a few holes into the thermostat and giving that a go.

I still don't believe it is a head gasket. As it isn't using any coolant, and it isn't mixing with my oil. I am seriously out of ideas.

fitting the electric pump in line would be strange.. and probably of little benefit.. save your money..

Doesn't have reducer pulley or anything on it?

what rev's is it pulling on cruise when its doing it?

did you lean out the cruise map much?

revs are 2500rpm, hasn't changed
cruise map hasn't changed
