TD04a aren't worth a lot (I bought one a few years ago for $200). It wouldn't be worth all the fabrication effort to fit it to a GT4.
an opportunity has come up for me to buy a standard WRX turbo (beleivve it is a TD03/04?!?) at a really good price! was wondering would this be beneficial to an ST185 3sgte or is the stock ct26 better off??
has anyone done this turbo conversion??
any help greatly appreciated, thanks!!

Strange things are afoot at the circle K
there wouldnt be much in fabricating up adapter plates would there?!? is for a rwd conversion in ae86, so there's a fair bit of custom fabrication going on!
why would you want to go backwards in turbos? The CT26 is better imho.
Larger compressor, larger turbine, compared to a little TD04 which you find in subbies.

ct26 hiflo FTW! mine was making an easy 242 at the rears on 13 psi.
stock wrx turbo is, from what little I've heard, not especially fantastic.. much better turbos out there
I second the CT26, but I'm more in favour of the CT20b, a-la the ST205 GT-Four turbo. problem is they're hard to find, and if they need to be repaired the parts aren't easy to come across. still the CT26 is a good option, WRX turb's not as good.
i third that. the ct 26 is a great turbo, get rid of the cerammic and then the CT is a very effective turbo.
~MR2 GT with a big arse turbo + a 3sgte built tonka tuff = lota Fun~
saying all that, if you were to use 2 of them, then it might just work.
But for the pain and effort, you might as well buy a better turbo to begin with.

go have a look on WRX forums. for the 2l WRX's td04s are considered too small, and everyone updates to the earlier wrx turbos VF22s?? and VF32's on STIs?? i think from memory.
if your going all out you may aswell get a t2/t3 sytle manifold and upgrade to a disco potato
disco potato ftw (also known as the GT28-RS from memory)
