oh I have emailed Stewart Wilkins, waiting on a reply...
has anyone found a source for replacement guides.
or a compatible replacement from another engine? (yes, checked TIO)
apparently mine are almost dead and 'hope they hold up' spec.
so trying to replace them for my performance build.
any help appreciated!

oh I have emailed Stewart Wilkins, waiting on a reply...
i think i remember seeing them on ebay from time to time with the chains, don't know of the quality though
Previous Rides: JZA80, GA70 GT, RA63 GT x2, TA61 GT, TA63.
I think you might be able to use 2T-G ones, but you have already emailed Steward Wilkins motorsport (who have 2T-G ones) so they will tell you.
I bought a set of 2T-G ones off them earlier this year for my hybrid, cost me $500 for a complete set of chains and guides. Though it was well worth it, no more chain rattle!
My '22 is getting a 3TGTE over christmas, and ill be pulling it apart to check all this before it goes in, so Im hoping I can use the 2T-G ones... Let us know, thanks![]()

yeah, the pricetag is a bit of a killer. but I think I would get them..
just trying to confirm that they are interchangeable items!
anyone with knowledge would be handy right now!
I am going to email them again, and see if they can supply pictures of the parts for a visual comparison.
hopefully we can find out the answer for you and me both soon!!

Tensioners!
they look pretty similar, except for the rod/piston pressure bitty.
also appear to be pretty rebuild able and good anyway
(see thread http://toymods.net/forums/showthread.php?t=12838)
now the guides!!
maybe they are a bit different.. by looking at the tensioner thing.

I figure the price tag might seem like a killer, but not really when you think about it. Most 2T-Gs are around 30ish years old. The guides I replaced in my hybrid were toyota ones which made me suspect they were probably the original items from when the engine came from the factory. So when you think about it $500 bucks is pretty reasonable, as even if aftermarket ones dont last as long, they surely would have to last around 10 years at least....
So therefore I can justify the cost to replace them![]()

exactly! replace once thing.
depends how long you intend to keep the car for.
everything else is brand new in the engine, so can't skint on another $300.
(already have lower tensioner/guides)

not confirmed yet.
I compared using pics.. and decided to get them.
sitting right in front of me
won't know until Friday if they are interchangeable or not (when I goto engine shop)
will post results then.

I got over the cost of these things on paper..
but having them in front of me now.. have to deal with the ripoff price once again.
hehehehe
little pieces of nothing, cost bulk $$$
oh well~ everything will be new, and last forever!

has anyone tried making the things? they can't be that hard can they and the amount you would make for other people would drop the price wayyyyy down?

hey jackel, you say you have 18rg ones off atm?
maybe we could make a 3-way comparison?
otherwise tomorrow afternoon, it'll be 2t-3t comparison at the engine builders![]()
