u fill the box till the oil flows out of the fill hole that he has repaired....the fill hole is usually only half way up the side of a box...

just make sure the level is right before you seal it up...

lucky box oil doesnt have to be changed to regularly

oh...and ive seen a CORK....like a wine bottle cork, used as a fill plug, (similar thing, damaged case)

wasnt game enough to touch it.....incase it fell to pieces,...but didnt look like it was leaking,....(probaly no oil, LOL)

precisely my dear IN05NT

fill the oil up to the level when car is level, then jack the front of it wayy up clean up the fill level plug and seal em up. There is also a fill plug you could use at the top of the box. also the box takes 4.2Litres, so even assuming that you cant drain it all out, putting 4litres back in should be about right

yup 4litres of mt90 ought to do the job nicely for another 50 odd thousand k's

A mate caught up with me today....well sorta smashed past in his lil mini.

We pulled over, I quized as to why the mini was back on the road.....

Ford Capri, tx3 turbo. He was changing the oil pressure sensor and the exact same thing happened, the housing cracked off when he tightened the new sensor in.

Dunno how its going but he dropped it into the shop and they said it'd cost a shitload. I'm guessing he'll swap the engine instead and just keep it for spares.

Your repair job looks the goods though, backyard shit is always surprisingly durable.
The pressure in a manual is minimal, so as long as a good oil resistance seal is attainable, I think you'll do fine.

I once used a sock and went crazy with the glue gun to fix a leak in my last cars high pressure coolant reserve (rammed the sock down in between the strut tower and reserve containter). Worked well for about 6 months, ended up getting a new one, but I think it would've kept going for alot longer.
