part of the reason for rep is to prevent people who just want use multiple forums for selling their stuff without contributing anything worthwhile to the forum. dont take that as an attack, but just keep it in mind.

At the risk of being flamed, ill tell you that the main reason i joined this forum was to cruise through the forsale section and try and buy parts (if there's another forum where I can find second hand toyota parts could you please direct me there?), the other reason being to learn a bit more about 1jz engines...

But anyway, the contribution rules you have in the forum are always going to be a closed door for me because simply, i dont know enough about cars yet to make an adequate contribution & what little i do know is limitted to 2jz supras, which dont seem to be discussed too much on here.

Another thing that ive had trouble with on this forum is actually finding the rules, I did read them when i signed up, but since then i havent been able to locate them. Also i remember reading in the rules that i would be aloud to post in the classified section if i became a 'financial member' but it didnt elaborate on it, and i havent seen that term again anywhere else. So how would i become a financial member?

2JZs?? hm strange u say that.. after half an hour of browsing for specifically 2JZ NA items, i've learned a lot about them, from where their water pump is, to how the intake is set up.. harmonics and throttles, cams, cam gears, variations to the GTE.. etc etc..

and finding the rules? u're in the membership and feedback section, look at the stickys.. it's all there... 15 mins of ur time and u're all set.. plus that link i gave to osmans is a good place to start...

To once again go over old ground, these forums are specifically tailored to encourage technical input and are not for purely for the selling of Toyota vehicles or parts.

In an effort to achieve this, the reputation system has been employed to ensure that a user must meet certain milestones before they have the privelege of being able to sell spare parts. However, you can sell Toyota vehicles upon joining the forums, without meeting these milestones.

You cannot sell non-vehicular related (ie miscellaneous) items unless you are an actual financial member of the club, regardless.

Reputation is earned by posting information that is deemed useful by other members of this forum. Mostly it's for technical input, but reputation can be earned from any post (you write) and in any section of these forums. This means you can write up details about your car, ask a good probing question, provide an answer to a question, generate an interesting post. Some people will give you reputation for some witty and humorous posts - and some will only give reputation for technical posts - it depends upon who enjoys/appreciates your post.

If you're a bona fide financial member of the Toymods Club you can post in every section without the requirement for meeting any milestones. Ostensibly, this means that reputation (and other required milestones), for a financial member, is not required to allow them to post anywhere on these forums without restriction.

If you are not a financial member, you need to meet the following criteria to become a "priveleged" user....

1. They have been registered on the forums for over 30 days
2. They make over 100 posts in the Tech and General sections
3. The attain a reputation of 40

Once you have obtained the above you can post in the "classifieds" section, except the "Miscellaneous Items for Sale" area, which is only available for financial members of the Toymods Club.

You need to have a reputation of 40+ to have an avatar.

I hope this clarifies some issues for you. Of course, if I have put some mis-information in this post, can someone please add/correct it.

at the top of every page on this site is a row of tabs:
home, forums, membership, the board etc etc.
clicking that will answer your membership questions

there is nothing stopping you from reading the for sale ads(unless something has changed)
and as for not being able to make a contribution worthy of gaining enough rep, if your on her reading the forums you obviously do some work to your car yourself, so one day you could have someone ask a simple question that you would have the answer too, which is what the purpose of the forums is IMO help people out if they arent sure.

ive gained rep just from posting pictures of a temp guage i had sitting in my drawer, and showing where the needle used to point in my old corolla. so it isnt all that hard to gain rep
