    Default Sticky accelerator

Was driving the car today and was going from 3rd to 2nd, put my foot off the accelerator and onto the clutch only to find the accelerator seemed to be stuck to the floor and max revving, managed to get it unstuck (in a panic) with a small kick on the pedal and then all semed to be fine. This has happened a couple of times.... what could be the problem? I put some silicon lube spray on the spring above the pedal but it looked fine (no corrosion ect). Would that just be the problem?

if your still running rod linkage arms to the carbys then hit all the pivot points with lube.

alternatively me old 2t used to do the same thing ... it was the carby accelerator plunger .... a piston with a lower rubber seal. The seal was old and degraded causing the plunger to stay down (rev hard) when gassed.

If it happens in a bad place and you can't get the pedal up first try, turn the engine off with the keys and brake to safety.

Yeah, mine does that occasionally too. For me its just one of the linkages being sticky. Usually the one from pedal to the main linkage rod. i.e. the one which goes through the firewall.

Yeah seems to be more accuring now Is it just a matter of greasing up the linkage or can it be easily replaced?

I normally hit mine with WD40, and then leave it. You can always add a bigger spring

just lube / spray and but inpect first the running linkages from the pedal to the intake it could be anything.
stuck on a thread on your accel pedal high part
it would also help to tell which car it is happening in

Thanks for the advice and yes it is a TA22. I hit the spring just above the pedal with silicon lube but that didn't seem to help. I'll hit every spot i can find to do with the accelerator today with some more silicon lube just to be safe lol
