Engine, ECU and loom are the main things. The engine mounts will be a direct swap, the gearbox will bolts straight up and be in the right position if you use the 5M engine mounts. Should be a fairly straight forward thing, merging the engine loom into the car loom as required will be the only tricky bit. If the 5MGE shares the 5ME's AFM integrated fuel pump relay that'll be a bit of stuffing around as well, as you'll need to run fuel pump operation from the circuit opening relay, the 7M AFM doesnt operate the pump AFAIK

Back on topic, why the desire to swap from 5m-ge to 7m-ge? I'm guessing the 5m is blown up or badly worn out?
the 5m had 245,000mi on it and finally blew. I got the 7m for free from a buddy who's 87 was taken out in the rear by a drunk driver. the car only had 95,000 original miles.

how much u rekon a place like rolin wud charge for a 5m-e to 7mge conversion? if i supplied motor?
DIY mate, I've looked at prices for just swapping parts here and there and I don't know that much but I know I can bolt a few things on myself and save hundreds. I say give the conversion a shot (even though I haven't done one yet) and then if you can't do it take it and pay someone or better yet I'm sure the toymods lads will help out for beer payment. They've offered it many times before.
i went to an impounded car auction today, there was a 6m-ge soarer there. it went for 360 or sumthing. way over priced! i weighed up the cost of buying a 7m-ge and getting it recoed to buying a 1j and getting them both installed with buy the same ppl, receipts and all. and its pretty much the same. so still weighing up the choices. i was close to buying the soarer for the 6m ge but i had to b very cuthoat and oversee the 6m-ge's "could be's" and focus on the "money wasting factor"
$360 too much? How come?
