We heard a rumour that Toyota Corporate was possibly going to pay a visit, so the Toyota Ute had to be prominantly displayed and I guess it was.Gotta keep your sponsor happy
All in all a superb weekend really!

I remember reading about the nationals ages ago, when the ute was only just running, and thinking.. geez don't really want to take it that far.. not sure im motivated.. and i ended up in dubbo on the sunday anyway.. and ended up convoying home for a little while with the white crown with simmons (was a few spots ahead of me on the latest ACT dyno day) and a white early soarer.. sadly i was in the mrs little blue rolla..

    ahhh toyota nationals.

it was really heart breaking getting the application in the mail knowing full well that i wouldnt be able to make it this year,

im glad to see the event was another great success with many a beer drunk.... at least one object set on fire and a whole heap of sexy toyotas out on display for the whole dubbo bogan community to see,

congrats to all the people who entered the drags, its one thing to build a car... its another to use it for what it was made for.

hopefully ill see yas all next year,
    cheers gumby

Well i had an awesome weekend!!

    - i finished the car on friday morning, around 5am.
    - Filled the engine with run-in oil, and headed off for the M4 truckstop meetup, and was left behind by about 5-10 minutes whilst filling petrol.
    - Caught up with the group, and had a nice uneventful drive out to Dubbo
    - dropped the run-in oil at Dubbo, and realised i had to remove the oil filter mount to change the oil filter
    - fixed that up.....
    - found the silastic was leaking after the S&S - replaced with gasket paper.

Otherwise, my 18RG is running strong, with a best time of 10.49 for the 1.8 mile. Of course it needs a proper tune, the stock 18R-GEU efi gear is way rich for the high compression pistons!

    Highlights for the weekend:
    - My hand catching fire
    - re: GT's crown wagon "It's hard to pick who's put less effort into their engine bay"
    - the deuce of RA25 GTs
    - the number and calibre of excellent Toyotas
    - winning an award.....

BIG BIG BIG thank you to Dave, Grant, Dana and everyone else involved with organising the whole weekend - it was awesome, and i'm looking forward to it again next year!!
    ...... butt scratcher?!

Well, what a weekend. I went to Kiama last year and this was my first dubbo nationals. Had a ball, was great to socialise witht the crew. Unfortunately I didn't make it all the way. Big thanks to Moss for bailing me out with a new T series diff. Thanks to joel for the help and Karl for some of his tools. Next year I'll be back with a propper diff so I can go drag racing.

    Danae,

I figured that was the case Hell if I sponsored the event then the very least I would expect is the logo adorned sponsors car parked in the car park

Does anyone know anything about the hilux that was in the drags and won the 4cyl NA trophy?

Did it just have the standard 2.7L 4cyl petrol they have? fully worked NA setup? cams? compression? etc. Awesome if it does, it must do something like 13 second 1/4 mile times to run a 9.5 1/8th with all the 1jzgtes / 7mgte(hiflowed turbo) cars. It must be one big hard-core four to do that, and those 2.7L things are 16 valve are they? if so, thats awesome, I want one!

There I was wishing there was more competition in the way of 4cyl NAs, not knowing about this hilux, now I'm kicking myself that I didn't get to race it.

Bog stock engine at the moment, but he does have plans for it. I raced him a fair few times in the qualifiers and it was a relatively quick car for a stock 4 cyl N/A. He was a Dubbo local, I've tried to convince him to join up to Toymods too.

Just confirming, we are talking about the white one with rims and racing seats? I didn't know he ran a 9.5 all the times I ran him during the day he was a 10.5+

    I wish 9.5 1/8th mile = 13 sec 1/4 mile as my 9.6 1/8th mile = 15.0 1/4 mile

yeah that was Clint, i also raced him, i sorta don't believe that he did do a 9.5 (he didn't really seem to either) but he certainly did well for a first timer!

and yeah it is the white one with the rims and racing seats, and his plans involve a 1G-GZE iirc

Ok, maybe there was a couple of hiluxes in the drags?

Remember at the presentation dinner, the car that won the quickest naturally aspirated 4 cylinder was a hilux, and I think they said the time he did was a 9.5? maybe they said 9.95?

    my quickest was a 10.01 (na 20v aw11)

oh well, I'm not too worried, its not really worth a trophy if there's only like three cars in the category.

I was pretty impressed to hear a hilux *supposedly* running 9 second 8th mile times anyway.

A lot of people enjoyed that, except one person. Christian was not very happy with his runs.
