i cannot sress this enough.. get a larger BAFFLED sump with all the good gear in it.

my car isnt all that quick (4age ke25).. did a 1.55 around winton long circuit, but i lost oil pressure around the big l/h sweeper and spun all my rod bearings

so yeah big sump, oil cooler and relocation kit, big f off cooling system and all should be well
I would suggest that something else was wrong with your engine then. I have a stock sump and even on the kink at Mallala im getting no oil pressure drop, stays constant around 75psi.

Also, the difference in spline size doesnt change the strength of the box. They are weak in 2nd and 3rd gear, not in the output shaft. The only reason i would bother to change one woudl be due to the sealing differences.

I concur with Takai re: oiling. I've always been VERY impressed with the factory 4A's ability to maintain oil pressure and keep the engine alive despite me doing foolish things.

I've been out on track drifting and come in to see zero oil on the dipstick. And I'm still on my first set of bearings.

I need a working 4AGE bottom end. Pref smallport GZE, but all others considered. Also complete motors.
Drift Volvo. Was fun. 2JZ next time.

hmm.. maybe i cooked the oil. water temp wasnt too bad but who knows with oil temp.
i ran my sump a little over full aswell. had oil to the top of the F mark.

guess id better look into it further.
while im here, anyone know of a 1 stop 4age shop where i can buy stuff like oil coolers etc?? preferably online

Isnt any online "one stop" shop, but since you are in Victoria then Meridian Motorsports have a pretty large selection of 4A gear, but can be somewhat costly.

Got mine from supercheap - $70 for the cooler (actually a tranny cooler for a v8 but all good for engine oil, should love the 4A! ) - $70 for a 12" thermo. (sorry, my memory is shitting itself)

Soooo wanting a davies craig water pump, but for $350....nuhhh, not yet anyway.

Oil temp/pressure guages are a MUST for track work!!!

Uh, $350 for a DC water pump? Where are you getting ripped off at? Repco regularly have them on sale for $179/229
    EDIT: Current cattledog:
http://www.repcoshop.com.au/ASP/Catalogue/CatPage6.asp $189 for the regular, $219 for the high flow.

Are you sure it's rated for engine oil pressure/flow?

It should have good flow, but I hadnt considered pressure. Where would I find these specs?

Having a look on the PWR site now...

guarenteed up to 80psi, will apparently have minimal effects on oil pressure... shit 19mm core

Engine oil coolers have a 37mm core...

Looks like I have to go shopping!

Where are these 19mm Plate and Fin cooler commonly used?

Often used in transmission, power steering and differential cooling in road or race applications and also seen under any V8 Supercar. Also used in some small engine oil cooling applications.

Can I buy auxiliary engine oil coolers?

Yes, the P&F 37mm plate and fin cooler is used for this purpose and is also very efficient relative to its area. Plate widths have been increased which gives improved capacity and increased flow. These coolers feature a complex internal turbulator for added efficiency and strength.

PWR T&F is a very robust construction, yet returning high efficiency, high internal flow as well as a high rate of ambient airflow. All this with a very low ‘pressure drop’ (excellent for coolers down stream such as the radiator).

Where are these Tube and Fins commonly used?

Often used in Engine Oil cooling such as O/E rotary engine, off road applications (where high amount of debris may be present) and industrial applications.

Hey, just a thought, wtf are those two plugs on the rear of the engine for? (above the water outlet going to all the heater pipes.)
