Default LED dash lights that actualy work

I am thinking of making my dash lights red, I know that there are sleeves for my current globes and there are also LEDs with concave lenses available. I want something that actually brighter than standard. I am thinking of using some of these:

Its a 3 watt LED, I would most likely use a glue gun to glue it close to the hole of the old globe. Would this work?

the killer is viewing angle, not to mention that luxeon star LEDs will be stupidly bright.

a mate of mine made these a while ago, with PCB to fit in the stock bulb holders and 10 SMD LEDs per "bulb" each LED had a viewing angle close to 180 degrees but the coverage wasn't fantastic.

they were red, which i got sick of pretty quick, now i just run bulbs without the green covers and they look fine.

    go for it i guess

i tried sanding the top of a few, didnt do anythiong al all. i had some success with using them as spotlights (shining forward on to the gauges) but overall it wasnt worth the effort, and were hard to get to look neat. see if you can get parker bulbs to fit in, i think they are higher wattage, get arctic blue ones for that white look.

reminds me, i need to make a decent light for my bike

go ahead, if it involves halogen lamps and 12 volt batteries i have seen it, i'll settle for a green light on the bike and a white one on my helmet i think

My experimenting with LEDs has led me to spend far too much for poor results... trying all the different ebay types. by far the best results were from the 5 way refracter types, but u still get bright and dull spots...

Currently have 5way blue refracters, does an ok job, but the speedo needle doesn't illuminate enough for my liking.

EL cable might be the next tryout.

The only way to go is to try them out, if possible rig the cluster up outside the car with 12v to the globes and experiment.

just wrapped my dash lights in blue condom thingys.

they mention "5 watt max", considering the warning, im guessing you can get 10watt at least?

I've found the NARVA condoms to burn out with even 5w globes... didn't even last the first night of driving until red turned to pink then off white lol.

whatever the factory used... it was good shiiet! .
