Yes yes it will work.
MA61 Manual gearbox xmember and front section of Manual MA61 tailshaft (Note: the rear MA61 tailshaft is different I believe, ~10mm longer in the xz1x?).

You're about a week too late, I just threw away a manual MA61 tailshaft. Bummer.
Manual MA61's are hard to come by, but AFAIK a manual RA65 tailshaft should be the same, and they're reasonably common in wrecking yards.

isnt the ra65 tail shaft longer than the ma61?

Shouldn't be.
Its the same floor pan, the same diff, and the same gearbox.

maybe its a different celica im thinking of, i pulled one out of a car at the wreckers and its 70mm longer. I didnt take much notice on the compliance plate of the car and dont know celicas all that well. Now i have a mx73 one, a ma61 and a celica one i will have to take some measurements.

Have 3 manual tailshafts and an auto one if anyone's interested. One of the manual one's needs a recond though, centre bearings stuffed.

cool thanks for all the help, was hoping it'd be that simple, always good to cut down on fabrication![]()
Well I was doing a dump run on the weekend and I got a bit carried away, searching for things to get rid of. My collection of broken W58 gearsets is gone too.Originally Posted by wilbo666

WTF can you do with a pile of rusty broken gearsets?
I still have the one in the car, you can have that if you want it (when I get around to removing it that is).
