PM Black supra - he did this conversion eons ago. Used some generic mounts - cost about 250 -300. With a front sump 2JZ, it was a nearly' bolt in proposition with the W58. I think he has a geocities website/worklog somewhere too.

lol really? 6m... ill have to sit a maunal behind it before i convert it to the 2j to see how it goes (thats my plan anyway, im not a fan of auto, espically since its slipping and i cant be botherd spending money fixing it)
would the mx73 to 1j mounts be any good, as i said i think someone on the cressida forum's sells them fore 300 bucks a set or so.
when you did your conversion did it take up about the same amount of room as your 6m or was it more? i cant see it taking up to much room but ya never know.

ill do that.
your set up looks great, what sort of power does that put down and is it any good for daily driving as well?
im going to check your ride, if you got a thread for it![]()
With intake, exhaust and standalone ECU. No work to motor.
I have only ever dragged it once - did a 13.8 @ 100.
Apart from the loud as fvck exhaust, it's a docile little thing on the road.
You'll be hard pressed to do this with a 6MGE.
wow that pretty impressive!!! jsut short of 150rwkw with just intake. do you have a custom exhaust with extractors, or do you jsut run the factory extractors.
The 2JZ is no bigger than a 5M/6M really. Maybe a little wider with manifolds etc, but there's stacks of room in an MA61 engine bay.Originally Posted by xcedricx
If you're doing a manual conversion as well I'd recommend doing that at the same time as the engine conversion, much easier that way and you'll save yourself a lot of work.
As for the MX73 engine mounts, the answer is "maybe". I remember Cruzsida made up 1UZ mounts for his MX73 and discovered they didn't quite work in an MA61 for some reason, so presumably there is some difference there. Maybe ask him for more detail.

I got some extractors made because the standard manifold fouled the steering box. A 1JZGE manifold would have cleared but I didn't have one at the time.
Would recommend the standard manifold - it's plenty good and will clear everything in the MA61.
Norbie, Glen used the "Bonneville" engine mounts - pretty sure it was a bolt in affair.
I expected that it wouldn’t be much bigger.Originally Posted by Norbie
That might be a good idea to wait on the manual conversion to, and then I don’t have to buy two sets of fly wheels and clutches along with tail shaft mods. But it all just depends on the cost; I might be able to get a good deal when I get the 2j for the gear box? Ill have to start ringing around for some prices.
Hummm I guess ill have to do some more searching for the answer for the mounts. The gear box should be fine, ma61 manual mount to a w58 should work, but im sure thell be some info on supra forums to what they have done.
1jz and 2jz use close to the same mounts anyway don’t they? If not ill just find either those generic ones or fab. Some up.
That’s one nice engine bay, I like it a lot!Originally Posted by gianttomato
Is there much difference between a 1jz manifold and a 2jz manifold? If it fits well in a MA61 I think its pretty safe to say ill have plenty of room in the good old MZ11.
Been looking on the net and found this puppy.

looks pretty deadly, more for turbo set up but its still worth considering I think.
1JZ and 2JZ mounts are different but the mounting points on the block are the same.
1JZ and 2JZ manifolds are incompatible; the cylinder head bolt pattern is different.

jsut had a look at your site. its a top job man, im guessing im going to have to odo something similar to what youve done. but im going to look for mounts still or get some fab'ed... im not that good at welding at all![]()
