    Default solenoid resistor+4agze

hey people, i am missing a solenoid resistor out of 4agze and it is the only thing left before it runs! I have been searching for a couple of weeks and called so many people, no one seems to have one of seems to know what it is. So i am asking here...

this is what it looks like it the wiring diagram. labeled solenoid resistor.

if anyone has any info on these, or if u can use one of another car that would be great!

    thanks, bassy

That is simply a big resistor. It just means that you can use low impedance injectors and a simple injector driver in the ECU.

Any resistor with the same resistance and power rating will do. Other 4AGs or Toyota engines which use low impedance injectors may be a good source. You'll just need to check their resistance with a multimeter.

EDIT - if you are using aftermarket management then read the manual, you could well not need it.

hey mate. can you get me a picture. i have my old GZE loom here. if i can get it out of that, you can have it.

try and get a picture or description

u can use any toyota resistor pack if there is more than 2 resistors just dont use the other wires

u just need 2 of the resistors
one wire in is common and 2 outs to the injectors

u can buy ok resistors from jaycar but i dont like doin that due to the wires on them are thin
i prefer buy a proper resistor pack and using only the resistors u need

wow! thanks guys that has helped alot, i will be checking the injectors resistance tomorrow then annoying some wreckers till i find something... If anyone has one though...

    thanks again! bassy

if you need, you can use (iirc) 7.5-10ohm Ohmite?? resistors, which are rated at 25W each.... get 4 of them, and if worried, mount them on heatsink
    like these..
i wouldn't use anything rated less than 25w, and i would mount them on a strip of alloy for better heat loss.

Ratshite has them for $5 each, so you chould be able to find them at half the price somewhere

hey well i just did a quick search and this website say the injectors have an impedance of 2 ohms

    http://www.club4ag.com/faq%20and%20t...-GZE_specs.htm

so i suppose i can work with this...

    thanks, bassy

ok i called a whole lot more people today and no one in adelaide have a clue! this is getting fustrating! gonna get something made at a electrical place if i cant find soon.

Any more info, or anyone has one would be awesome!

    thanks, bassy

as sideshow said, you can just use any resistor pack from any toyota, and it will be pretty much ok...

if you know what the resistor pack looks like.. go to wrecker, oull one out.. all good

i don't know why adelaid epeople are having such trouble

at worst, buy four 25W aluminum cased 10 ohm resistors at about $5 each and connect one in series with each injector, so that 10+2 = 12ohms = 1amp current...

thanks oldcorollas, but i thought my injectors needed a 1-2 ohm power supply?

    what?

you say you need a soledoid resistor.
the diagram shows you need the injector (solenoid) resistor.

if you have low Z injectors (like you do), then the resistor increases the resistance seen by the ECU, so that each injector draws about 1amp. this means about 12ohms resistance for each injector.

i have no idea what you mean about a 1-2ohm power supply tho???

read the "injector resistors" section here
    http://www.megasquirt.info/v22manual/minj.htm

edit: if the ECU had a resistor for the injectors before, it means that it can't do peak and hold, and so, if it doesn't have resistors, the injectors will draw too much current

Nothing to stress about OC. Bassy I think you have confused the injector and resistor impedance.

    The 4AGZE injectors are 2ohm

To get a current of 1 Amp flowing through them with 12V you need a total impedance of 12 ohm (12V / 12ohm = 1A).

Therefore the resistor needs to be 10 ohm.
