Default Apexi RSM installed in JZZ30. Now transmission issues. HELP!

I searched my couldnt find much relevant information.

I just finished installing my Apexi RSM. It looks just like this:
    http://www.apexi-usa.com/product_ele...=199&pageNum=1

I installed it as per the instructions, I also cut the 'speed 2 GND' wire and connected it to ground as per the instructions. The unit works great and displays all the correct information.

HOWEVER! Now it feels like my auto always has the lock up convertor always on. When keeping the throttle at a constant position and going up a slight incline, usually the box will turn off the lock up, then it brings the revs up and you keep on going. But now it just bogs down untill you put your foot a lot further down on the accelerator then it changes back to second and away you go.

I figured that it was just the computer having been reset and learning again. But it keeps doing it. Very frustrating and a little worrying.

Has anyone else had this problem before? The last thing I want to do is to damage the box by putting too much presure on it from the lock up always on.

EDIT: Let me make the post a little clearer.

After doing some further investigating I have realised that the instructions have told me to connect the "SPD2-" / "SPD 2GND" line to ground. Intercept the "SPD2+" line and connect that to the input of the RSM. The output of the RSM then goes to the ECU.

The vehicle speed sensor line has not been touched. As per instructions.

There are a few left over wires on the RSM that have not been used, a grey, a pink and from memory an orange. looking over the instructions they seem to be used for Nissans. Should these have been connected to something?

have you tried joining that wire back up that you disconnected.

what do the pink etc wires have as there description, we dont all have a manual in front of us ....

the speed wire could just be spliced and joined instead of the rsm running through the middle of it.

Nah It cant be spliced. As it removes the 180Km speed cut.

Ive just gotten back from driving around 100Kms. Basically the auto is manualised. Its pretty cool actually. Im going ot stick with it for a while and see how I go.

Im getting a transmission cooler and shift kit soon anyway.

I found the problem. I rewired it and now its all good.

Working as it should. I'll just have to wait until I can test the speed cut

Im looking at installing one of these soon to remove the speed cut, it would be good to know what pitfalls to watch out for

side show, yeah thats what I did wrong. I used the connection diagram for the 97 Model soarer. (it was the only one in the book)

    That was my mistake.

Use the speed connection and cut into that one. Do NOT use the SP1+ and SP2-

In the link above use connection diagram 2 instead of 3 and also use toyota T8-K instead of T8-d.

If you have any problems send me a PM.
