    Default JDM T50 Clutch slave

    Hi guys,

I checked the clutch fluid reservior last night and it was almost empty, look under the car the clutch slave looking a little wet. I think I better replace it before its too late.

I remembered reading somewhere that a T18 clutch slave is the same as one on JDM ae86 T50 (the one on driver side). Can anyone confirm this? what year T18? or better part number for repco?

    Thanks

I have answered this before, so I am sure the info is out there.

A friend has used a TA22 slave cylinder on his JDM T50 for years. And I believe T18 (79-83 I believe, though Google can confirm) will be the same. A quick part number check at Repco will confirm that.

And let Repco/Bursons/elsewhere find the part number for you. If they are so useless that they mess that up then shop elsewhere.

TA22 does fit, although just check the throwout distance, mine extends a bit far and can push the piston out of the bore.

I had an AE86 JDM slave cylinder and when it died thought a TA22 one would be an ok replacement after reading a few things on the net. Ordered it in and it fouled on the bellhousing in one spot (Dellow housing).

Just something to be aware of.

Don't like the sound of that. If only I have a second car then I can take the slave cylinder to repco and compare it with the T18 or TA22 one. That way I can be sure.

I Just gave Repco a call it seem that there is not one TA22 clutch slave cylinder in W.A. have to order one in which could be a week wait.

Also here is what I found out part numbers
PBR part numbers for 1975 Celica TA22 is JB4041
PBR part numbers for 1983 Toyota T18 TE72 is JB4126

So it seem that they are not the same.

If the rod is too short, make a longer one.

If it hits on your dellhousing, then don't be surprised...

I have had a generic brake and clutch shop T18 one on my JDM T50 bellhousing for years. I can guarantee it fits unmodified.
