Good question. I think they're actually from an ae101 gze. Have contacted the guy who sold to me just to confirm.

What do the numbers on top of the pistons mean out of curiosity. The ones I were sold, 3 of them have 2's and one has a 3. Would this have normally been 1-4 but the pistons might have been mixed at some stage or...?

Anyway I guess that means the deck height of the pistons is different so that puts out the figures I quoted just before

take a pic of them and post them on here.

Got a link to that forum post "on another forum"?

those numbers are sub-sizing, all 81mm but slight size variations

Does anyone know if there is much (if any) difference in the bottom end gasket kits of a 7a compared to a 4a? I'm wondering if I can get away with a full 4a gasket kit and maybe just buying the sandwich plate to sump gasket separately?

hey heres a thought for you guys, instead of decking the block for a 20v install just use a 7afe gasket instead, it should make it right again.

200boy: you wont get high compression with any 4agze pistons even with a decked block, thin gasket and the 7a bottom end

    Using 95 BZG AE111 and 94 AE102

Front and rear oil seals are same part number, oil pick up gasket also the same, oil pump body gaskets are different. No sump gasket shown for 7A so same as 4A use liquid sealer.

You think I should just go with a smallport piston instead and save the machine work, thin gasket and unnecessary weight of gze pistons?

Also in this chart, would the cr be much different using a bigport head?

    FWIW:
I'm running an heavy duty clutch that was pulled of a 4agte. running it with my 7afe. there were no issues with installation. at all. it was slipping on the 300+ HP 4agte I pulled it off.
But is sweet as on my 7a.

At the factory each bore is measured before pisons are installed, they then select from different sized pistons. That engine had three size 2 pistons and one was a size 3 piston. Not much in it, but get your machinist to match each bore to a piston, to be safe.

Would love someone to do a full 7A** build thread.

With all the different 4A - heads & the options of N/A, SC or turbo...
And all the different cars with different purposes..

The results would be interesting to compare
