completely different to the 18r single-cam tappet cover gasket.
i bought mine genuine from toyota and that was about 18months ago. but im guessing they can still get them.
dont forget to grab the cam tunnel half-moons while your there
Is it the same as the 18r or is it completely different?
Any ideas where to source this item?

hello
I cant be exactly sure about 18R vs 18RG, but I think they are different, as the twin cam has timing chain and gears going to the top of the head whereas the singe cam doesnt. Similar concept to the 2T vs 2T-G that I am familiar with.
Try Stewart Wilkins Motorsport http://www.swmotorsport.com.au/
They have complete gasket sets to suit the 18RG so may be able to source a timing cover gasket for you. But if they are anything like the 2T-G, I had to make my own... its not too difficult if youre patient....
Hope I was of some help,
Dana

just to clarify, they are 1000% different and the 18rc does have an OHC,
ie not gayrods like the 2t/3t.... errr i mean pushrods
i think autobahn may also sell full kits for the RG

yep it is a paper gasket. i traced the original gaskets before i put them on my car so i will see if i can find the paper i traced them onto. if i can all you have to do is print them out, cut them out and then trace them onto gasket paper.
the genuine ones were rubber
hello
Yeap i had my import wreckers source me a twimcam rocker cover gasket from one of there suplliers, cost me 65 bucks but it was worth it, and yeah make sure you get the halfmoon and the gasket for the 2 spark plug tubes they forgot mine but i got them in the end. You could also make it out of a roll of cork. making sure the roll is larger than 500x500mm then get your mums spray cooking oil and lightly spray the surface of the rockercover and press to the cork, then cut it out
Shit hey, just relies what you asked. i got distracted from everyone elses comments, yeah im pretty sure the TIMING COVER GASKET is the same, but the rockercover isnt. haha

wrong gasket i think
there are 2 gaskets for the front assembly
it goes block-gasket-metal plate-gasket-timing cover
you can see in your picture the gasket next to the block is the same BUT the gasket next to the timing cover is different.
now i have a pdf here of the gaskets i traced, I have a funny feeling either the scanner will have shrunk them slightly and put a border on them OR when you print them out, the printer may not print right to the edge so will put a border in.
this means the images MAY be slightly smaller than standard size.
just take that into account if you print them off, you may need to compensate for what either your printer does or what the scanner did. (ie print at 101% or something like that to compensate if needed)
HOW DO I ADD A PDF FILE?
or give me your email address and i will email you.
Yeah but even so the timing cover gaskets and plates are all the same part numbers just in the pic the cover gasket looks different but it seals the same area.Originally Posted by barned01

The TIMING CHAIN COVER gaskets are the same from 18R to 18RG.... because I bought an 18RC timing chain kit which included the gaskets, and used them when reassembling my 18RG (along with the lower chain and lower chain guide + tensioner)
...... butt scratcher?!
yeah thats what i thought
