    Default 18R(C) standard cam identification

    HI,

is this an original standard 18R(C) cam? has the number 26 under the toyota stamp and the number 4 along the shaft. No other serial numbers are present. I just want to make sure so I dont send the wrong cam off to be re ground.

any help would be greatly appreciated

i dont think so - an 18R(C) doesn't have anything being gear-driven from the middle of the cam nor cam-driven at #2 cyl.

Are you sure that's not a 2S cam?

No I'm not sure what is in fact. The guy I got it off said it was for an old toyota 2ltr engine. I was hoping it was for the 18R(C) but as I have not yet seen an 18r cam before i dont know what it looks like. Pretty much got it for nothing so I grabbed it.

well if anyone can identify this cam it would be super. That said, are 18RC and 18R cams identical?

18RC and 18R cams are nearly identical (minor differences in lift and overlap)

why regrind it? differences would not be noticable - just gently clean up the bearing faces (no heat!!) and shove it in there.
