    Default 7MGE MA61 throttle cable

Ive done a bit of searching but havn't come accross an answer yet. I've got a 92 MX83 7MGE in my MA61, and the throttle cables inner cable is a fair whack to long. Just wondering if theres a cable from another car that will solve my problem?

Bah throttle cables are for girls. Tie a bit of packing tape around the throttle pivot and run it across the engine bay and into the cockpit. Accelerate by hand . (this was a wrecked supra in a private paddock..)

Seriously though.. Don't know of any straight forward swaps. http://andy.supras.org.nz/ might give you a few tips. He modified the stock MA61 cable.

    Hope that helps

Which throttle cable are you using? I'm assuming the MA61 cable. Mine is too long aswell by about 3-4cm. I've just bodged mine up for the time being by just bending the excess cable over onto itself and used some electrical tape to hold it in place. I will be taking it to a Cable Shop so they can shorten it for me though sometime in the future.
The other thing to do is though, make a custom bracket which pushes back the mounting for the throttle cable casing by 3-4cm. One of the MA61 boys have done it, JMCO i think but dont quote me on that. He might have some pictures.

Yep, that would be me. I spaced out the bracket that the cable bolts to. I got some longer bolts (by like 5cm) and some nuts in the same thread as the factory ones. I then moved the bracket about 5cm further from the throttle body, and got some neat black tubing to cover my handiwork. I used the nuts to give some extra solidity to the bolts.

I now have full throttle travel by the pedal, only thing is I have slightly more visible cable, but no one has ever really noticed that.

Running an MX73 cable at the moment due to having the 5MGE in there previously. Yeah it looks like just bodging something up until i can get it shortened properly.

I'm not sure about the 7MGE, but the 7MGTE bracket cannot be moved unfortunately.

    I'm pretty sure I used a 1GGE GA61 cable on Damo's

Shorten the cable. Make up a little round piece of brass, cut+clean the cable, then solder the brass on. That's always worked for me.

I used an Aristo cable on my MA61 which worked with very minor modifications, so I'm sure an MX83 cable would be just as easy. This would be the best option since it's sure to be the right length.

    Suck me beautiful.

No I haven't as yet. I don't have my camera ATM. You can see what it looks like now, but someone ^^^^^ has my photos from Toyotafest where I think I have an engine bay shot.

Got the throttle cable sorted out for the moment. Now I have more issues. At idle the engine is hunting (revs climb and fall, climb and fall) Advice from Allan had me pull the idle control valve out and clean it, almost seemed to fix the problem but then after about 30 seconds of idling (a little high, but steady) it started again. Anybody got any other ideas for me?
