its an ra23 using corona struts and hubs-its all been done now so it doesnt really matter but it gave me the shiznits at the time because the caliper was to far out from the hub-so i couldnt use a spacer unless it went behind the hub i shaved the two mounting holes on the back of the caliper by 4mm and it sat perfect- at least ive got heaps of room around it now for rims.

Yup, i have whiteline tender coils.
They do the job... much else to say about them.

Was more comparing costs, hence why I asked.
Joel and takai mentioned the king springs ones are cheaper than noltec, was just wondering about the price of the whiteline ones. I am going to do some measurements tonight so I can actually ask for prices myself, its just a bit hard to do without the dimensions at the moment.

Im not sure if its mentioned in the thread at all but im wondering if anyone knows if i can use RT142 struts and hubs for this conversion.. Im thinking about doing it for my RT142 corona so it would be easier if i can use my struts and hubs..

Ok maybe I'm a bit slow but i've read the hole thread and still don't understand. Takai you talk about cutting 50mm out of the strut and welding 20mm spacer to the bottom of the tube??? Where do you weld the 20mm spacer and what its reason for been there.

i think you'll find the 20mm spacer is put inside the strut to take up the slack when using a smaller shock like an SW20 MR2 insert thats commonly used.

If this is right then think of the spacer as a 20mm thick washer sitting under the insert to stop it jumping up and down in the strut tube.

We do not use the Rt142/RA60 struts on early Celica's, because of the crazy offset mount of the steering arms.

That being said, measure the caliper mount bolt hole spacing, and the distance from caliper mount to the centre of the vents in the rotor. either post them here, or PM me, and i will check the measurements against my RT132 struts.

The new strut insert is 70mm shorter than the old one so you can lower the car without running out of strut travel.

You could cut the full 70mm out of the strut tube, but then the car would be too low.
So you go inbetween.
Cut 50mm out of the strut tube, and then put a 20mm spacer inside the tube under the new insert to take up the rest of the space.

It doesnt have to be 50mm cut and 20mm spacer... that just what takai used.
How much you cut out depends on what normal ride height and adjustability you want.

Found the cheapest source of 75sereis landcrusier calipers (not 100 series and 78 series crusiers, they have a 130mm bolt spacing, you need the 75series (the uber old shcool ones with the leaft front end) which have the 90mm bolt spacing.)

Old mine utes. went and pawned a set in my lunch brake.

they look a whole lot like the hilux calipers with the same sized pistons, and come off vented discs.

should work well on the CAA22, when I get around to it.

What callipers are you planning on using?

Why is the s2000 rotor better than the pug one? (other than the fact that it's already 5 stud, but is it 5x114.3?!)

Because s2000 is 300mm and pug is 273mm
