Anybody had custom brake lines made up for this conversion?
Brake fluid feed line on the TA22 caliper is at the top whereas the Hilux caliper feeds in the middle of the caliper meaning I'll need longer lines?

Anybody know what thread size the Hilux caliper takes (to save me trying to figure it out by trial and error)?

Or has anybody used an alternative brake line that fits? (I read somewhere that somebody recommended an RA40 line...is that proven)?

    Thanks,

I had two new lines made up as I needed them slightly longer, I also figured it was a good idea to replace 30+ yr old lines as they didn't look the best.

I'm using the caliper with two different piston sizes, it had the same fitting as the RA23 Caliper (standard flared fitting). I just took in my old brake lines and said I need new ones, but each 2 inches longer.

Make sure you measure before you get them made however, just to be sure!

RA65 brake lines fit. May want to get new ones though.

Yup, the calipers and pads do look identical to the Corona units.

I've noticed a few people having trouble getting the discs and calipers!

Just thought I'd mention that I decided i wanted slotted rotors for mine, so I rang my local brake shop and the first call i made the guy says he has some slotted ones on the shelf he ordered by accident and he would sell them for $100 for the pair cos he wanted to get rid of them. AND he had a standard vented pair which he wanted to get rid of too at a ridiculously low price so i grabbed them too.
So then i wandered down to the local 4wd wreckers and had a look for some calipers, and at the first place i went to i found about 5 or 6 sets of the s12 +8 sets ( the two different size piston types), then went and found another four or so sets of the s12W type! (the 4 equal sized pistons with the rib things on the front type).
So now i have two sets of calipers and two sets of standard discs (one pair new and one pair used)! So if anyone is struggling to find the calipers or discs let me know and I'll give you the details!!

    Now I have a question.

Im putting a setup with xt130 struts converted to coilovers with adjustable camber strut tops in my ae71. It also has corona control arms and ae86 power steering arms and a 40mm rca.
Now the question is will the end of the control arm clear the disc?
Also how will i go using the standard master cylinder? I think its meant to be 13/16ths though im not sure. Will the 2003-6 camry master bolt onto an ae71 booster?

For anyone that is interested, the Camry master cylinder (Aug 2002 through June2006 Camry, Part Number 47201-06190) is a perfect fit for a TA22.

It's a really easy install and virtually bolts in. Fit with the strut tower is perfect too which I was worried about. Only a little manipulation of the brake lines required and a good bleed. Everything is a simple bolt up. The gland nuts on the brake lines are the same so nothing changes there. The piston depth was about 1.5mm different (less) but the slop in my pedal easily accomodated that.

Pedal feel is firm but I don't think too hard (standard TA22 calipers + drums).

    Here are some pics.

It would be good to have this info added to the first post too I guess.

piston is bigger so pedal is a little firmer. Possibly better feel a well. The master cylinder won't make it stop any better. You will need to change the other end of the system to see any physical improvements. WHat this gives you is an easy upgrade for a dual circuit system which your engineer will require for approval of any performance related mods. Having the bigger piston will facilitate use of bigger calipers without a spongy pedal.

    Hi,
I'm finally doing this upgrade on my TA22. Question is can someone confirm that a flexible brake hose from an RA60 Celica will be a direct fit for the LN106 calipers to the struts?
A pic would be great too!

    Cheers,
    Simon

Any one needing a pair of RT132 struts in melbourne - there was a RT132 at Centre Rd Wreckers today that hadn't had them pulled out yet. Get in quick It was at the end of the Toyota aisle down the back.

Going by the PBR book it shows that the Ra40 and RA60 have different flexible brake hoses....
I might just order an RA60 one and see if its right. Went to the wreckers the other day and couldn't even find an RA60 to check....

    Cheers,
    Simon
