    That was quick!
Well 60mm has been taken out but that's still fine. I think the problem is only it looks funny outside of the car as I dont have a tender spring, and am left with a big gap between the spring and strut top. Gab from T3 said I wouldnt need one, but Im starting to think its not too bad an idea....
    Opinions?

depends on the shock min and max movement whilst in the car.

would be a slight issue if you lifted a wheel... then you'd get full droop etc.

not sure on the impact this would have .... takai would know

You dont necessarily need one, its just a good thing to have if you manage to lift a wheel. In addition if you have the wheels off you have to make sure that its all seated down ok after you have jacked the car up.

Other than those two situations tender springs arnt hugely needed imho.
They lower compression slightly static, but you can adjust this out of the equation anyway.

Thanks for clearing that up takai. I will look into them as although I dont think i'll have the wheel in the air very often, i would rather have it for when i jack the car up etc.

Sillycar chick, the rego inspector, will have a problem, with the spring not being "captive".
When the vehicle is on jacks, the springs must be fully captive. This is to ensure that at all times during driving, and maintentance that the spring remains in its correct position. Imagine having to position all the springs every time you hoist the car., be a nightmare for the mechanics. Their is considerable discussion within the ACT rego authority regarding banning the use of adjustable coil over suspensions.

The other issue I foresee, is the possibility of that wonderful bearing Gab has supplied, being torn to shreds, due to lack of contant contact with the underside of the camber plate.

    cheers Chuck.

Ah good point, 99% of my modifications never have to see a public street (bar loading onto trailers) and so i dont think about regency at all. That said my AE86 does run tender springs and passed Dickson for the roadworthy.

Some valid points there chuck. My car would rarely see another mechanic but me but I will be getting some soon anyway, as I couldnt be bothered stuffing around checking springs are located properly when I jack my car up Sounds like tender springs are a very safe option so I will be hunting for them. I take it you can get them from most people who deal in coilover springs?

Yeah I got my tender springs from Noltec.. But King Springs also sell them at a more reasonable price IIRC.

Yeah, the Kings were about $50 each from memory, maybe even less.

nope. 1 mm washer is required between the caliper and strut mount to make in run true.

Nope, my LN106 calipers line up exactly when using the RT132 struts and MS65 hubs.
