could you put up some close-up pics of the synchros? links to external pics would be fine.
cheers and ta,
Charles.
This is for River and all the guys (Thanks Dave).
P51 Toyota/Porsche syncro licenced gearbox circa 1976 Celica and Corona GT.
take off oil filler and poke a stalk light inside.
if you have a grey band and some teethy things its PORSCHE type
If you see brass I guess W50.
Never having seen a W50 inside can only guess.
if you think you have a P51 send me a photo I can tell now.

This project has been suspended due to the fact that when I started to dismantle the gearbox I bought off EBAY for $140 as a parts box, I checked inside and surprise surprise, Porsche Syncro bands. It is a P51 in very good condition and does not need to be stripped out.

Sorry pardoning my ignorance, but does this mean that it's going to be too expensive to repair due to parts cost and you arn't continuing with the project?
It's interesting to see the inards of this rare box though, I'm surprised River hasn't ventured in here yet and wet his pants...

Then I went out into the shed to commence canibalising the gearbox I just brought back from Melbourne off Ebay yesterday and found it is a P51 the same as the insides that I bought.
So now I have a serviceable P51 and a pile of parts.
