aw crap, i will be at the drags
hi folks,
our club is going Gokarting and is looking for more numbers!
We're making a booking this week and it would be great to see people from this forum and other places outside the club to come along!
venue: Archerfield Speed Karts, Beaufighter Ave, Archerfield
when: Saturday Novermber 18, ~5pm onwards
cost: $55-60 depending on number of drivers (you also need one of their 'licenses', if you dont have one yet, they're $5)
what to bring: a warm jacket, long pants and some motorbike/pushbike gloves - all of which you dont mind getting a bit dirty. The place does have free helmets for loan but if you have your own comfortable brain-bucket, bring it.
food: there's some food onsale at the place - if enough people ask for it, we can bring along some sausages/bread and use the bbq on-site for some simple warm food, but we'll need volunteers to help cook.
where do i sign up: post a message here but ALSO send an email to wilbo who's our competition secretary <[email protected]> so he can keep track of numbers and people.
BTW: we're keen to join other club's events and would like to extend an invitation to other clubs to join ours - feel free to email comments/info to our club. We want a reverse a trend in low turn-out numbers and by banding together with other like-minded car clubs we can all grow as a toyota-driving community.
cheers and thanks!
Charles.

The trick is to make sure you get a kart with brakes.

from memory, that cart track you only have to brake once, which is coming into the hairpin at the bottom of the track....
otherwise its flat out.![]()

Indeed!
But with no brakes, relying on engine braking and wind resistance to slow you for the hairpin does cost a bit of time![]()

hahaha, i suppose... coulda slid around the corner.
Considering that from the big sweeper, down the straight, and into the hairpin, that gotta be goen atleast 80km/h+..... brakes would be nice.

I see the compition is starting already!!
that hairpin's a tricky corner ... loose too much speed and the kart bogs down as you try to accell away from the corner - too much speed and you spin/stall in the corner.
the straight is also good for a bit of argy-bargy if you're heads-up with a competitor :-)
ooo... i like the sound of this... it's after exams too! will try and make it, woop all yo asses... or atleast the really slow asses...
