    you wont need springs!!!

people seem to think springs make a big difference but untill you get valve float from big rpm or massive boost blowing open the valves then you wont need to make any changes to the springs

a higher lift cam compresses the spring further obviously so the spring has a much higher rate at full lift than it would with the std cam and the std lift cam is good for 7500rpm at 23psi so a high lift cam will be good for more!

i have made over 350rwkw with std springs and a combo of 265 and 272 cams i spin 7800 sometimes with boost of 24psi or so, if i want to run more rpm then i think springs will be changed

on a side note i have changed springs without removing the head on another 1j and it was real tricky but can be done no problem

i agree with 1jzracing on this.

i know of a few cars running 264 cams or 264 272 combo with factory springs running into 30 psi of boost without a problem

matt at magic is a prime example.

Not stressed about duration or the amount of PSI affect on springs, its purly the lift that worries me. Going nearly an extra 2mm lift is a fair wack of difference. I wanna make sure that its not going to Fk with the shape and rebound retention.

1JRacing I'm actualy waiting on the guy you recommended a while back to get back to me with some recommendations. Prolly going to get him to grind me up a few sticks.

Oh also thinking of reving it out too 8000rpm, depending on how the power curve looks. Will this still be ok on the standard springs with the high lift cams?

my rev cut it set at 8000 on factory cams and springs.

i usually change at 7500 on the shift light. i havent seen any issues thus far.

What about 8000rpm, 264/272's on the stock valve gear??

Is there a problem with shims coming adrift at higher lifts/RPM?? Retainers also??

very rare for retainers to come out, maybe shimless buckets might be a good idea for that type of specs
    JZX83+ FMIC+ Twin 2.5" dumps to 3"+ FCD+ 2800rpm stallie+ 14psi - LSD - good tyres = 12.85 @105.58

I know it is hearsay but people in the US are apparently revving to 9000rpm with the Crower 264 (272 small core) and stock springs and retainers.

BTW did you get lost? Haven't seen you around for a while

Yeah I haven't heard from him since I started this thread. I was going to buy them through him then he disappeared... might have to save up and get a set now.
