    Basically the sandwich plate is a big steel ring which is bolted to the engine, and locates on the existing dowels on the 1FZ. The A340 then locates on dowels in the sandwich plate and bolts up to the sandwich plate.

    Obviously, during the fabrication I had to ensure that I got the centre-lines of the trans and motor lined up perfectly. To be honest, the fact it worked still amazes me.



    Thanks for the info. Can I ask what torque converter you used and with the 8mm adapter plate was the input shaft length and splines OK etc.

    Sorry mate, I didn't mean to denigrate the straps and glue.

    BTW do you have any external dimensions for the 1fz (besides bloody tall?). I guess a lot of people are going to be interested in them after this thread and the supercrown progress, but it might help to show that the 1fz will only fit in very few cars.
