Anybody know how the external dimension of these engines compares with the 7mge.
How much longer, wider, taller, and heavier etc.
I'd love to put one in my Cressida.
Thought this might interest followers of this engine.

Yeah-I'll be over for one of the WSID events next year for sure-Probably Compak Attak again (19 may). I had a ball last time, although I'll try and set aside more than 4 days total this time........Originally Posted by Mr DOHC
And Killswitch, as for the max torque figure, it's around 1000-1100 nm (740-810ft/lbs) at around 4400rpm, with maximum power approx 720-740 hp at approx 5600rpm. (One day I'll engine dyno it and find out for sure)

Yeah i can echo that. I actually toyed with it seriously for about 5min before i got the measuring tape out..... The 4" longer would be ok, pushing it, but ok just. The 6" taller is somewhat harder. Would be a MASSIVE power bulge.Originally Posted by Mr DOHC

Mike ay MV has also given the A340 a check-up whilst it was all out and it came up with flying colours. Amazing considering the torque it is having to channel.
Also, the converter has been returned to a normal stall level to up the stall speed to 2800-3000. Previously the converter had been de-stalled to cope with the motor (in a standard supra/cressida it would have been about 1500-1700) and it was about 2300-2400, but in an effort to allow the car to build boost on the line we brought it back up.
The clutch in the converter has also been doubled in size so I can lock it on the dyno/race track for a bit more power.![]()

look at the plenum. it might give you an idea of the way Sean attacks such problems.
What shop is doing the head gasket work and do you know if they are using the standard head bolts? My 7M had it's o-ringing and copper head gasket done in SA by a mob called Ranch Automotive.
edit- I can see in the picture you're using head studs.
Rhemac at Gawler did the o-ring work.

Hey Caelum. That's rude. Both the straps and the glue were of semi-decent quality.
The 1fz is mated to the 7M-A340 bellhousing using a hand-made 8mm thick steel sandwich plate.
The difficulty was that the 1FZ bellhousing pattern had a diameter 100mm larger than the A-340 bellhousing, and also waaay to big to fit in the crown's trans tunnel. (which was designed for an M-series drive-train obviously)
Basically the sandwich plate is a big steel ring which is bolted to the engine, and locates on the existing dowels on the 1FZ. The A340 then locates on dowels in the sandwich plate and bolts up to the sandwich plate.
Obviously, during the fabrication I had to ensure that I got the centre-lines of the trans and motor lined up perfectly. To be honest, the fact it worked still amazes me.
The head studs are 2JZ supra ones.
Motor is all back in, with only manifolds to go. Dyno is booked for friday 20 october. Should be an easy run into the dyno session-no late-nighters required for once.![]()
