There was a best coupe and hatch trophy, the obvious addition to this would be the best sedan and best Ute trophies. Maybe a top 5 set too.....![]()
i tohught maybe everyone could suggest different ideas for trophies for next toyofest's, after it was mentioned that there were so many entrants now we needed new categories, and i had some ideas...
firstly would be to add a 2nd and 3rd place trophy to most existing categories.
antoehr idea would be to limit the amount of trophies given to one person. not that they dont deserve them but maybe the person who wins the big gold one (is it best overall show car?) shouldnt get any others because his car is assumed to be better than anything else because he got the good trophy, and doesnt need anymore, and would give more people the opportunity to get something.
best daily driver (how to prove it is daily driven?, maybe it would be pretty obvious?)
best recent conversion (a complete conversion done since the last toyofest)
best 'type' display (small trophies or awards given to all entrants of the same car - could apply to clubs entering together or just people entering with the same car all lined up)
best original classic car
thats all i can think of right now, please dont anyone suggest crap like "best ICE" or "best subwoofers bro" coz those fgts kind of ruined the show.
maybe something like "best riced up shitbox" would discourage them.
MX83 2JZ-GTE!!

Best new conversion is a good one.
Most Improved or an Encouragement award could be good too, though that may actually discourage people from finishing projects
2nd and/or 3rd in best in show, best paint and panel, best engine bay and best interior would be great as there was sooo much competition out there this year, I'm sure it made it hard for the judges to give out just the one prize for those.
Yup, adding a 3rd to each trophy would be a good idea, there is already a runner up for most.
Maybe, there could be a best Supra, MR2, Echo, Hilux etc.. etc.. then Top Coupe, Ute etc.. is the pinnacle of the individual model awards.
Maybe have catagories like Street, for mildly modded cars, and then Superstreet for cars of the Calibre of LTCOOP, Josephs Supra, MAD79R etc...
best allrounder - car that is a modified daily driver and isn't afriad to see the drags/racetrack?
A lot of good suggestions so far I must say, I like the idea of street and superstreet. Similar to how the drags are done with street/pro

Hi guys,
im all for more trophies, but i think they still need to be genuine.
top sedan and top ute/wagon are a couple that are obviously missing.
perhaps a "board choice" award chosen by the toymods board for a car that does every thing well but doesnt quite get there in any one category or overall - but turns up with a quality car to events anyway.
perhaps a "longest distance travelled award" - the cars that turned up from wa... wow!!!
definately an encouragement award.
as far as 2nd and 3rd place go... i didnt think there was trophies for them??? anyway as far as that goes..... i think it is cool just too mention them, and spread the awards over a larger variety of awards.
as far as limiting trophies to one car.... i think thats a bit harsh. i get the idea of more people getting trophies, but they also need to be worthwhile, or you get to the point where we give out trophies for turning up.
Also what would be the point of winning best interior - if there was a better interior there. plus i believe you may end up with some of the higher level cars not turning up.
a car like ltcoop has obviously had alot more effort put into it than most - therefore deserves to win more trophies. plus it provides inspiration to others to see how well an all round car can be.
Cheers
Stew

we could become all technical and place entrants into catorgorys for example
people would would like to enter for catagory A ( BEST ORIGINAL CAR PRE 1980)
could enter for that specific catagory and they could see who there compition is
and that way it makes it easier for judges ( for e.g people with all the know how on what is original pre 1980 could be the judges)
i think there should be more trophies but you have to remember only Dav and Josh were judging this year and with 94 entrants it would of been hard to do in such short amount of time,
WTF that could eat me Whole award goes to the supra with the big T88 on it

1980RIP NATHAN BRETT DEAN2007,
I thought it was great that sponsors could come onboard this year like Castrol and give the oil + oil pressure gauges to all the winners. Hope we can have something like that for next year as well.
I guess an Encouragement Award is a must, or like on the inaugural ToyotaFest, a few Encouragement Awards. Placings are a good idea, especially considering the calibre and sheer number of cars that were entered. Distance award for sure. An award for the best-judged of each model of Toyota might be over the top, but could be an option if we get the numbers like we did this year. I think best Sedan, Coupe, Hatch, Wagon, 4WD, etc. is probably a better solution.
It's drawing a really fine line here, and almost to the point of splitting hairs over categories, and then one has to ask have we gone from too few to too many? As Stew said, you don't wanna end up having people get awards just for turning up, like what happened to me twice while I had my RAV.You want satisfaction to come from competing against and winning over other competitors if you're there to take something material away from it.
One thing we have to remember is that not everyone who enters this ToyotaFest is seeking a trophy or award, but are just happy enough to be showing their pride and joy next to other cars belonging to owners who are like-minded and share the same passion for their cars and love to modify Toyota's (or keep them original). For those types of people it's more of an unexpected surprise that their daily-driver actually impresses people because it's so well-maintained.
Good suggestions here guys.
Things that I'm looking at the currently:
Retro mod, an old school chassis modified in an old school style
Daily driver, a car that would be fun to drive every day without risk of getting booked etc
Work in progress, basically an encouragement award for guys who bring along incomplete cars
Best show car, as in cars that are built as show cars, this is due to our show being seriously directed towards cars that are completely functional rather than show pony's
Best Sedan and Best Wagon/Commercial
We'll most likely do certificates for the runners up in their classes next year as well.
I want to get the classes nailed down by the end of the year so that you guys know what they are and if you want to you can build your cars aimed towards a specific trophy.
Wouldn't Rod win that every yearOriginally Posted by Joshstix

If in doubt power out
That's kind of what I was getting at with, 'it may discourage people completing a project'.Originally Posted by 7MA61
But it would encourage more people to trailer out their 'work in progress' like Rod did which would be good too.
