Default Steering arms - Tapered Reaming to suit larger ball joints

    Hello boys and girls

I am looking for somewhere in Vic that can ream out RA60 steering arms to suit a MA61/cressida balljoint.

Everyone says its easy to find someone to do it, but ive rang a few engineering workshops and a few other workshops as well and no one can do it.

I did some maths based on Hens measurements of RA60 bits and it seems the tapers are far from "morse" as well

Any help would be appreciated. If anyone has done a similar conversion in vic who did your "reaming"

    Regards,
    Phill

I'm surprised you cant find anyone. The first guy i called in Hobart did mine. He didnt actually have the Reaming 'bit' so he did it on the lathe. Charged me $40. The second set i got them to do, they did have the reaming 'bit' and they charged me $20 i think.

well several of the places said they would do it on the lathe, but charge me for the priveledge!

Said it was a bit of rooting around setting it all up, would be $50 a steering arm, and i need to get 2 sets done.

Ill try the place glenn mentioned tomorow

That should be fairly awsome. So with the MX36 LCA's you would have a bit of camber dailed in?

they are 30mm longer than the factory arms on the corolla, i think MA61's are 300mm too so they would be an upgrade for them as well. I don't think i will get too much negative camber, but if i want more i can go to MX62 arms.

Basically they are the same as the Sigma arm setup, and you get a choice of +30mm or +50-60mm if you wanna go to MX62 LCA's You need the steering arms reamed out or need to use factory MA61 steering arms if you wanna do this though.

Awsome work. I've just finished doing this to my MA61 but with Sigma arms. I used PS Celica arms but used RA40 tie rod ends and the connecting rods to give me the extra 30mm each side. Works perfectly. Took her out for its first drive tonight and it seems all good. Wheel allignment coming up on wensday and then a few corners to see the improvements.
