    Default UZA70 - parts list

im contemplating this conversion... my 7M has a BHG, and i just can be bothered with it anymore, and if the shop that fixed it originally, wont honour the warranty, im going to UZ it, then sue them for my money back.

ok, ive done a bit of research.

    i need:

    Engine,
    Gearbox
    (auto)
ECU & Wiring - i dont want aftermarket.
Rear sump (Crown? i know soarer doesnt have rear.) correction, soarer will work. sorted.
Headers that will actually fit? (Soarer?)
Rad - it appears i can use my stock MA70 radiator and the exhaust i have from cat-back, i just need some custom work to mate the headers to the existing exhaust.
tailshaft - i remember CrUZ saying that soarers had slipyoke, but crown/celsior im not sure about.

http://v8supra.com/ - this site has been very helpful, however, it doesnt mention what headers were used, and what sump.

engine mounts wont be a problem, can fab something up.

i dont care if ABS doesnt work.

it will be going into a 1990 MA70 GT Limited ABS equipped Auto, digi dash.

just want to price it up.

yes, i know it wont be cheap, my 7MGTE REPLACEMENT wasnt cheap, so i dont expect this to be either.

and i dont expect it overnight.

also, engineering, i wouldnt imagine would be too much of a hassle, much the same output from old and new motors?

    if you've got a '90 MA70 I don't get why you'd need a different sump to the soarer setup, as a 1JZ from a JZZ30 Soarer will drop into a '90 A70, so I would assume a 1UZ from a UZZ30 Soarer would also just drop into a '90 A70.

but then again I may be mistaken, not like I've done any research into dropping a 1UZ into an A70

"Sump and exhaust headers were the major fitment problems. The headers I had were too wide for the double wishbone front suspension of the supra, and the front mount sump fouled directly on my crossmember. A ring around found me a set of headers from Melbourne and a rear sump & pickup from Adelaide. These were both a direct swap and the engine now fit in."

    from http://v8supra.com/v8.html

but ive just reread the "1UZ into MA61" thread, and its stated there that the rear sump wont fit in an A61.

so it looks like i do need a soarer motor, as i know for a fact the JZA70 1J fouls the A61 crossmember, and the chaser doesnt, chaser i think has front sump?

thanks for helping me work that out

im not thinking very straight, antifreeze haze got to me today, all that exhaust gas out of my radiator too...

by the look of crown headers, they seem to be the most compact, i know this isnt a sure thing, but they look the most likely to fit...

can anyone confirm? this is the only thing im unsure about.

maybe get custom made headers, increase that flow

as for your gearbox, you can use your current one, all you need is the 1U bell housing. 7mgte supras had the 30 41LE, as did the 1UZ soarers

well I just went outside and compared the sump configuration on both my JZA70 and my housemates UZZ30 to have proper confirmation and yes, they are the same, as I had guessed earlier

    They are both rear

im doing it to minimise the work involved, basically, i want as much downtime as humanly possible.

thats why i want to know what i need, exactly what i need, so i can buy it all up and have it all there if i get the go ahead, then ill only be held up by having to replace broken stuff, if any.

i was pretty sure the 90+ 7mgte supras had the a341LE as thats what all the books and toyota have listed for that car, its only the 7mge that has the a340E.

maybe yours is a freak show hahaha, is thats whats listed on your build plate? or is that just what you have in the car?

Eldar crown headers are the most compact and restrictive in the serious of uz's, trust me its all could fit in my crown.

I'd just buy a crwon halfcut and use everything including radiator, only thing is that crown mounts are the only ones that are a different style to supra's. the soarer and celsior uz's use the same style mount as supra's with their 7M.

The crown in the only auto box that uses a slip yoke too. The soarers and i think celsiors use the weird ass 3 Y yoke thingy.

There's a bit of info for ya

wiso, all supra autos had the A340E.

in australia, america, and i think europe.

i dont know where your getting your info from, but every supra auto ive seen has been an a340E.
