If you can find an AE86 with factory aircon, use all those lines, condensor, evaporator, dryer etc.
It will make for a much less headache.
Unless the KE70 stuff is identical.
Hello all,
Lets just say for a sec thet Rex picked up a KE70 with a really good and complete A/C system. This is a car that has no right, nor for its purpose, no need for A/C.
Now consider that His daily Spoonter has not A/C and that smokes the worlds greatest choad of Satan.
What He is wondering, does anyone know these systems/cars well enough as to suggest if retrofitting the KE70's entire A/C system to the AE86 is possible.
He knows the brackets for the compressor are different, but that is no problem. But surely there cant be too much to it so as make the job impossible
Rex's main concerns are that the underdash box/units will fit and getting the electronics/control units working.
The engine side of the equation has aftermarket EFI with A/C input and idle control so that too is of little concern.
Take that!!!
Rex

Knowing that the two share the same bloodline, thats exactly what He was thinking. If they are then Rex's little idea is really quite basic.
Maybe...
Get out there and find out.

I be having recurring memories that they be different.
Just test fit, if it fits, all good. Else find some drift monkey and swap bits.

Don't quote me at all on any of this, but I've got vague ideas that the condenser and evaporator units can be basically fitted, but there are differences in pipes, receiver/dryer, wires, etc. I'd say nothing that can't be overcome with a spot of general creativity. Once again, I can't be certain of it...

Are you in a rush for this AC Rex?
If not I might be able to help you with some bits for AC from an 86 later.
The hardest part of this will be the under dash unit. If this can be made to fit and work then making new hoses and wiring it up will be easy. All you need to wire it up is a high/low pressure switch, which can usually be mounted in the receiver/drier, and a thermostat.

Also if you have a look that Rex isnt concerned as to the bracketry on the compressor, but rather about the boxes fitting in appropriate sections.
