    Default FUSIBLE LINK SPECS Please.

The Fusible link in the 104GT is also the shunt for the ammeter.
Does anyone know what type of material is used?
I don't wish to buy the original part if I can avoid it, knowing the price
It will be 6 or 8 mm special alloy/compound.
Just need a length and a resistance value/metre I can make the rest.

    Hi,

The only info I have on the fusible link is that it will melt off within 5seconds when a current exceeding 300Amps flows through it.

Mind you, this is for the 1st gen Celicas.... I don't know if the Corona would have the same specs.

About the same consistency as a 4 inch nail I guess.

Yeah should be about same with ND Alternator providing your ammeter has same internal resistance.

If it ever burnt out it would blow the ammeter fuse thats for sure.
But you would have a dead short.
Also starter motor does not go through it obviously.

You have email about your Fiche.

I now have every 1978 Toyota part number accessible from 010000 to 99999 and their descriptions.

Already found a battery sensor they are use din the Crown MS85 imported here. Hope there is one left somewhere.

Also does your sump have oil sensors in the side?

    Hi,

No oil level sensor. The RA25 series only had the low fuel, low washer fluid and blown brake-light warning system. There's a slot in the console for the oil temp gauge, which I have put in - and I've got the oil temp sender, and just need to get to coupling collar for the oil filter to fit it and she's all done.

    hi,
the fusible link is made of brass cord. from memory it had x-section of 1mm^2. you used to be able to buy fusible link wire thru a sparky. i think i might still have some. if you don't mind waiting a day or so i'll send one of my kids to check the values and get back to me [i'm working o/s at the moment].
because it was so expensive to get a replacement, i measured current to get FS deflection on the meter and its resistance. calculated approx length to get FS at 50 amp [TA22 showed +-50AMP] and cut to length and fitted. using an work ammeter which could measure up to 100A i got some loads and calibrated the gauge [the TA23 didn't have markings].
does your ammeter have numbered markings?
    cheers,
    Ray

    1. There's no point arguing with an idiot. They'll just drag you down to their level and beat you with experience
    2. Don't argue with an idiot; people watching may not be able to tell the difference

G'Day Thanks for responding. Yes the 2000GT ammeter is numbered but only in a couple of places 0 45 and 90
So it will be easy to calibrate the link, using a bunch of headlight globes. 100 watt each V/W=I or some such law.
Appreciate the offer of some replacement.
I will check two wrecked celica RA40's tomorrow and see if the links are still on the wiring harness.
If no I will PM you with detaisla nd send you a few bucks thanks.
