damn, io thought heaps of ppl would have done this!?
Hi guys,
Just wanting to know, as i have a 84 YN57 hilux with boat like steering, and id like to take it to power steer when i have the new engine installed in a few weeks. My question is, will a 1991 say 22r powered hilux with power steer's steering box fit in where mine was? or is there more i need to do rather than just bolt it in? I'm aware of the HP lines etc.
Thanks
Blake

go to wrecking yards - compare 84 lux with 91 lux - if steer-box in same spot then take home to test fit.
note: expect the steer-box from the wrecker to be rooted so factor in some kind of rebuild or refushment.

i'd just take:
picture of front end (to see how it all sits)
paper rubbing of bolt holes (place sheet of paper over areas it bolts up and take a 'brass rubbing' of the area using a soft lead pencil)
tools to remove s/box
i wouldn't bother lugging a big steering box with you.
its ok, is small actuallyOriginally Posted by thechuckster
take a leap .... put in RNP pwr str.
Try RA60 etc as they too ran R series motors at some stage.

this has a commodore v6, but the rac and pinion setup into it would not be cheap i can assure you! especially if a newer lux's steering box bolts straight in!Originally Posted by TA-022
