That manifold connection is for the brake booster IIRC. Why not just run a catch can?
Hi all,
Got my 20V BT in my Clubman. Just trying to figure out which hose goes where as my car obviously has a few differences to a typical install.
I don't run power steering, nor a brake booster, so there were a lot of free lines.
Now obviously the way I have it set up now isn't right... so whats the best way?
I'm talking about the hose that comes off the end of the cam cover and currently just loops around tightly to the mainfold just near the ICV hose connection.
Any advice?
Cheers

Yeah I probably will just run a catch can off the barb at the end of the cam cover eventually. Where should the return go? Back to the brake booster (ie same pipe)?
I would assume so, it is after all a connected vacuum source, unless the vac rail has an internal one way valve which might get clogged up with oil vapour.

Thanks mate. Appreciated as always.
The challenge will be finding room on the "firewall" to mount it
EDIT: Doh, have to "spread it" around before I can give you +ve rep![]()
Yeah, the firewall is a bit tight in that little one. How about between the overflow and the header tank? Remember for CAMS stuff it will have to be 2L (however it doesnt actually have to hold 2L, it can be pissing out after only 1.5L as we saw at Bathurst with the JD car).

That hose normally leads to the inlet pre throttle body, what are you planning on running for an air filter arrangement? You should be able to plumb it into the air filter.
The main PCV fitting (at least on the silvertop), is about half way down the rocker cover.
You can see it behind the oil cap on this pic.

Its just trumpets and filter socks for now.... but eventually it will be a custom plenum.
Yeah the BT has that same fitting as well midway down the cam cover... which lead to my confusion a little.
So is it possible to block both of those barbs off perhaps??
I really should have taken more pictures before ripping the engine out of the halfcut
EDIT: Found one.

If you block the barbs off you will get a fairly high positive pressure within the oiling system, which is even worse than just having atmospheric pressure. Not a very good idea. It may be possible to block one and then just use the more convenient one for routing to either inlet or can.

Sorry, I meant blocking off the two barbs in my first pic.
Wouldn't the one midway down the cam cover that Ben is talking about provide enough breathing?
Oh. Yeah, i would assume it would. From the last time i looked at a 20v the barb half way down is around the same size as the one on my 16v.
However, beware that if you have a lot of blowby it can actually outflow the barb, but that will just indicate larger problems in the works.

I used to run the one at the back open on my car, it didn't appear to hurt anything, perhaps one of those little ricey filters would be the go.
