hey is this offer open to all? i know i can work pretty hard spending someone else's $300 especially if there is a case of beer in it as well!
    1. There's no point arguing with an idiot. They'll just drag you down to their level and beat you with experience
    2. Don't argue with an idiot; people watching may not be able to tell the difference

This seems like an incredibly pointless exercise if you intend to do an engine conversion down the track.

Why spend a cent on the 5m-e if you're going to be tossing the boat anchor next year? Just chin-up and cop i sweet until you have the funds to make a significant difference! Although spending some coin on brakes/suspension at least will be usable come serious motor time.

I know of a 5m-e that pulled 280 rwkw and sounded like a very angry thing. But it wasn't NA and couldn't keep the head on the block for long!

That's a lot of effort for some beer but if I get another 10 I'll let you know (however unlikely it may seem)

Hence why I had the service and dyno at the same time. Got new plugs, filters, etc.

Yup, what I said before this is what I will try and do and I can still keep the box when the new engine goes in (if I do it right).

Exactly what I have already decided in another thread Getting koni yellows all round and custom front springs. Probably custom back further down aswell but at the moment we'll see how the kings go.

Just get the exhaust and be happy that you've not only (possibly) created a high performance anchor but also made a positive financial contribution to your future conversion. All these other mods might glean a little out of the engine but at the and of the day the exhaust is something you wouldn't do yourself, but still has a relatively small labour cost (= best value for money a/market mod for 5m). A lot of these other mods involve your own time, this could be better spent stripping sound deadening (lower weight increase performance, v little cost) or on other research into your planned conversion.

Trying to get performance out of a 5m is like a glacier, 2 steps forward, 3 steps back.

As for UZ into 61, sure it fits? Something jugs my memory about width fouling issues.

I like spending time on my car trying to learn more about it. It's all I've got.

It has to fit because I've seen it done

Perhaps the cheapest way to get mre power out of it is to take it to a US-made wheel dyno.
They always make more power than an Aussie one.
