^ i reckon that when you look at someones profile you should see who gave them rep (or took it away) and for what reason.

i dont see any reason to hide other peoples rep, making it public would be a FAR better way of policing the forums, AND ensuring that rep is taken seriously and is genuine.

that is not a bad idea.... some could be quite funny in retrospect then again, the mods have access to all reps anyway.

While I have a lot of respect for the guys that are winging about these threads I seriously view the grudge you guys have against them as somthing that is just annoying to YOU,my opinion is the majority feel there is still a good balance....

An example of how I see your frustration is like when I see someone drive of a night with no lights on,I actually get really angry at them for doing it and curse and carry on,or when im trying to get somewhere a little quicker and I get the shits at someone who is doing the speed limit and driving safely..Its an over-reaction to the issue at hand and if I just step back and say well yeah that annoys me but if I get worked up about it every time and make it a mission to let this person know about my frustration it really starts to get out of hand..Chillout!

Seriously guys Ive said it many times before,if you think Toymods will survive as a strictly technical forum your kidding yourself..People become more and more involved in this club through different avenues.Alot start by posting on the non car discussion, especially while they are still gaining the confidence to work on their cars and then gradually contribute more and more to the forum....I personally dont mind the things that are posted as links as they still have a particular level of tact and relate to the average toymodder...Who cares if it isnt car related or doesnt start some indepth discussion, its a bit of fun! I never look for vids on the net so im generally pretty wrapped when someone posts somthing up that interests me and often go one searching for more info on that subject...Toymods will never be the preferred "hey look what I found on the internet" forum there is just too much going on in the other sections, but its still needs to maintain a level of non car related content.Otherwise people will just get on to look up how to change a gearbox and fuck off without adding any input..

If most of whats in the non car discussion shits you-dont go into it

i can understand what you are saying when you write about people not having confidence about working on their cars because i am one of those people however it doesnt make an excuse to post pointless stuff.

i think of toymods as a community moreso than a forum and i wouldnt walk into a room and just start sayin random stuff with zero possibility for conversation.

it might not be easy to understaand but ill write it up again a little better if needed later.

Dude this is my point exactly, this is not a room full of people talking face to face, it is an often anonymous internet forum. You need to look at the bigger picture and understand that we have all become accustomed to using forums and a certain online culture has been created, one in which it is only normal to link people to things you think may interest them...Yeah sure, monitor vulgar, pornographic and violent links but im telling you now if you try and stamp it out all together you will only create another area for the wookies to get it wrong and it will be thread after thread of "stop doing this" followed by everyone’s opinion as to whether the thread is appropriate or not just creating more crap to wade through...

My question is also, where do you draw the line? do we have to pose a question after every link? can you cheat and just say "what do you think"? if the thread doesn’t get any stronger than one page is it then banned? Can you see where im heading, it will inevitably create more work for the admin and do more damage than good...Let it go man!

I guess what im trying to say overall is im getting pretty sick and tired of THESE winging threads about how Toymods isn’t doing this or that right when often it is intolerance on behalf of the person complaining that is the problem, or the fact they are spending way too much time on here and the forum becomes like the best mate you hang around with too much...sooner or later you will start to shit each other...

    Just my opinion guys...cheers

in trying to make every one a fair judge on what is worth posting in general discussion maybe admin can first remove rep from being given in the forums then if someone offends they get a warning, then a slap on the wrists with some -rep, and then if it is possable to possibly ban a toymodder from just the general discussion for a time frame? maybe that will make every one concider what one is posting.

Since the financial members of Toymods are paying for the bandwidth, why not restrict non-car discusion to financial members if people want to post up "Look what I found fcken on inetwebs."

Although extreme, atleast people couldn't complain?
