Yes, I remember your arguments, however according to the numerous EPC I have both the W50 and the P51 are given the same casing numbers - which indicates they are externally identical - this includs the extension housing and the bell housing.

The W50/P51 changed shape (I think Aug 73) - before this date they were identical, and after this date they were identical. That is, both the W50 and the P51 have always used the same external casing.

You are more then welcome to stick your head under the car. Perhaps you will find something different, and for that I will shower you with rep.

Well we will soon find out

    I have bought a 33111-20090 W50 and a P51 inner.
I will do a photo shoot of the disassembly and repair an assembly of a P51 into a W50.

RIVER please tell me your casing number thanks. Please..

The microfiche shows one part number for all RA series celica boxe cases both W50 and P51
The extension housing and bearings are all W5 series no P51 discrimination, all the same.

The difference in the P51 is basically what is mounted on the main shaft.

if you look with care in the oil hole you can see the differences.

They are identical, I had one in the car and thought it might have been a W50 even though it changed and crunched like a P51.

So I owned one from the retrofit in 1979 and was unware, duh! I woder where Toyota got it from, it was brand new
