    Default Oil Pressure Sender Location

Now i've recently acquired a couple of autometer gauges. Oil pressure is the last one to go in. After giving this much thought a T piece adapter would be the best way to go to retain the stock sender.

    Here is the T piece:

    1/8" BSP (A) x 1/8" BSP (B)
    x 1/8" NPT (C)

My question is would this be able to carry the weight of the stock sender as well as the OEM autometer one or would i have to run some oil resistant hose to a remote part of the bay and plum it up that way. I would prefer if i didn't have to do that, because there is plenty of room undernear there. Can anyone show me some of there setups?

    Cheers

yes it can but be gentle with them. It is mechanical oil pressure i take it?
I cant remmeber how heavy the electrical sender is for electrical autometer if thats what you got is. But a remote setup wont hurt but just make sure there is plenty of free play in the hose for engine twist etc.

it has been know for T pieces to break off the block. but i think that may be related more to using them with turbo feed lines.

i think you should be ok, as there are no rigid lines that have connect to either sensor. that means there is not a lot of stress in one direction that could cause it to snap off.

lets see others experience with it

I would get a fitting brazed to the T adaptor so it can be bolted solidly to something.

    Hi,

I'm in a similar situation but it's an oil temp gauge I'm putting in. As someone pointed out to me there's some oil filter adapter rings which have the hole in them for the sensor.

You remove your oil filter, whack on the adapter ring, pout your oil filter onto the adapter ring and screw in the sensor on the adapter ring. Simple.

Autobahn sells the Speco range of adapters - and I'm sure there'd be other places that would sell something similar also.

yeah, the speco things are good. not the best quality casting but certainly up to the task. the T piece is designed to take the weight of a sender and a switch. unless they are both fairly large and you live on the nallarbor; it should cope. the only snapped one i have seen was like slide said, a guy had a turbo feed line hanging off it.
if it reassures you at all, my boat has a T peice with two senders and a feed line running off it. been running this way for years with no trouble, and boats cop massive hits/vibration compared to cars.
This is a really far out, witty and clever signature.

There is no way in hell i would run a sender off a t-piece hardmounted into the block. If an Aeroquip fitting has a hard time without snapping then i woudlnt be trusting a cheap piece of machined brass.

Go to Pirtek or somewhere and get a remote line and remotely hardmount the t-piece.

For the $30 it costs (braided -8 line) from Enzed its really not worth skimping on it.

And while you are getting braided line, they can most likely supply a better quality tee piece as well.

Kingmick yes electrical, and yeah massive...
mmm seems like its 50:50 here a bit. Although as i said before mounting remotely would invol ve getting a mounting bracket and drilling into the body which i'd rather not do. I like to keep things nice and tidy but functional. Some braided line would look good tho hehe Thanks for all ya help peeps. I'll post some pics when i get around 2 doing it

    I dont like it !!!!

I used that exact same fitting in the past with the autometer sender. It ended up breaking of flush with the block
I tried for days to get the piece out and not even heat would move it. I ended up having to drill it out and pull the motor down because the brass had traveled into the oil galleries.

What i ended up doing was going speedflow and making up a little brace that clamped to the sender and held it to the block
