your right mate they are a 1/8 npt thread.
be careful taking the broken bit out u dont want any shavings going in your block.

My aging fading memory seems to recall 1/8 NPT.
My alloy adaptor holding my autometer sender and feed to my turbo has sheared off kindly leaving the thread of the alloy adaptor wedged in my block.
Getting it out won't be a problem (perseverence) just want to confirm that the brass replacement i use will be the right thread type.
Many thanks!!!

yeah i figure if i do get shavings in there, i'll crank the motor without the sender in to push anything (including oil) out when finished.........just to be sure.
Are you guys certain or is this pretty sure?
The 4AGE is 1/8th BSPT, which only 1 thread (in 1" length) different to NPT.
Have a look at:
http://www.colder.com/Downloads/NPT.pdf
Figure 7 of the above document shows what happens with a 1/8th NPT male (fitting) inside a 1/8 BSPT female (block).
Not saying 2T is not NPT, just curious if it's different to a 4AG.

mos that IS interesting. indeed.
all the toyota senders ect over the years seemed to have remained the same - so maybe its not?
i'll do some more digging
thanks all for the input
I dunno if this helps but its the same thread as the oil LIGHT sender so you could take that with you to compare to this new brass one...
I just replaced my 2TG oil sender with an adaptor that fits an oil pressure and oil temperature sender and it was 1/8 NPT.
peedman - 1/8 NPT will fit 1/8 BSPT, so one fitting the other isn't a confirmation that they are the same... I guess I was after something a bit more concrete (but this is Grega's thread, so never mind).

I say 1/8th BSP. I had to put a thread guage on so I could retap these oil holes when building both my 2Ts.
I fact all the pipe fittings screwed into the 2T are BSP, the motor that became my race one has BSP/pushlock hose plumbing fitted where I could.
NPT may screw in but I don't think they are tapered like BSP fittings and will only screw in so far as Mos is saying.
You may find though that the guage hose fitting is NPT and so may in fact need a 1/8th BSP male to 1/8th NPT male adaptor.
Or a fitting with 1/8th BSP male to screw into the block and with 1/8th NPT female to screw a 1/8th NPT Male/Male to screw the line to.
Now I am even confused. Suffice to say 2T=BSP.

i seem to remember this being the case.......when i screwed it in.NPT may screw in but I don't think they are tapered like BSP fittings and will only screw in so far as Mos is saying.
now for the fun bit. get the broken threaded bit outsy. shite.
From memory I think its 1/8 NPT.
Both NPT and BSPT are tapered threads. The 1/8 BSP has 28 tpi and the NPT has 27. BSP is British Standard pipe whilst NPT is National Pipe thread.
In Australia BSP threads are more common in industry.
You just need a thread gauge to check the TPI and then you will know for sure. Both NPT and BSP will fit but obviously only one with fit properly.
Cheers,
Simon
