Welcome.
Around 510 mm from where the dipstick seats on the tube to the full mark.

Hey guys, i'm a noob some of you may know me as i am the Administrator on www.performanceforums.com
Anyway i've just bought myself an old Poopra with a 1jz in it. The previous seller was a wanker and sold me the car with a snapped off oil dipstick (and a VERY rattly bottom end!!! )
So basically all i want to know is the measurements from the top of the dipstick to the "full" level and the "empty" level...
Anyone?

Do you know what it's from mate? They all seem to differ in length. If you have a search around here you will probably find some discussion about it.

Nathan, it'll be a front sump jobbie...
That it is!
Awesome, thanks for your help GT!![]()
You can get them new from Toyota for about $28 before you try to bodge one up....
haha yeah i'll go get one. Just wanted to see where the oil was at atm. (i've just been topping her up a little each day. Was only 2mm below full!![]()
Yeah, but wouldn't it depend on whether it was originally a front sump one? The part in the block is different too right?

Nath, like Wilbo said, dipstick tube fits into the alloy corset and seals off with an O ring.
I'm sure there are different length dipsticks dependent upon the sump configuration and possibly even the model. The problem getting a definitive answer is that so many people here have swapped sumps without due consideration to using the correct dip stick. That's why when I swap, I want the whole kit and kaboodle.
Hmm there is a thread floating around started by someone that has some measured dipstick lenghts, as you say tho I would expect a lot of them to be swapped around!Originally Posted by gianttomato

82MKII was definetly involved, and he has a front sump. This is what sparked my curiosity.
