Unhappy Comfortable Seats for Tall People!

I've done a quick search of this forum, but not the old as yet, but i've got a sore back, so cut me some slack!

I need some seats for my RA2x celica's. At the moment I am not considering aftermarket buckets, as I dont intend on installing a harness for the time being, and dont want to pay too much. They can weigh as much as they like, and I will be retrimming them in vinyl or whatever to the colour of the car's new interior. So yes, I'm in the market for second hand seats!

My primary concern is comfort! Who here, is tall (I'm 6'5") and has ended a long journey feeling something other than incapacitated and agitated? What seats were you sitting in? Make/Model (non-toyota) I dont care! Lumbar support is a must!

    TIA

Your help will be much appreciated!

(oh and I have not yet read into the legalities of seat rails etc, I dont care at this stage)

I'm 6' 5" too, and while I haven't had a huge amount of experience in different seats and cars, I found stock sprinter seats in a sprinter were remarkable good for everyday comfort (not so for support on the track though) and my head cleared the roof, even in a helmet.

Also a steering wheel spacer is a great investment. It's really nice to be able to fit your knees behind the steering wheel.

Recaro seats are your friend. We fit a lot of these for people that have back problems, also in track and circuit cars.
Try some out, you'll love em.

Im 6"1 and have a pair of OBX Carrera (reclinable buckets of sorts) in my AE86 and even though you sit pretty damn high (close to the roof) they are damn comfortable and even hold you in well on the track. I've seen them go pretty cheap on toymods sales a few times..

MX5 seats seem to be a decent conversion into an RA23 celica. I've been told they don't sit too high, which is a plus. They also have the one piece back, so they retain the style of the originals. From the MX5's I've sat in, they seem quite comfy.

I've been driving an ST162 for the past few months, and the seats are quite decent in those also. Not sure how they would go in an RA23 though.

    I'm 6'3".

not sure about being comfortable for tall people (im about 5'11"-6'0", i dont consider myself tall), but i have found that my ae82 twincam seats are much more comfortable than my parents' '98 subaru forester and '02 merc c180
    excellent lumbar support adjustment too

im also 6'5 and have problems in most cars i get into...

the only car i can drive comfortably is the old mans honda odyssesy n mums civic suprisingly.

every other car ive sat in n tried to drive was a challenge.. tried taking an ra40 out for a spin wasnt guna work as the wheel and the gear shifter and the seat were all badly positioned... as mentioned about ive been told that the recaro seats are good along with the ma70 seats... but this is un-none
ill be researching this myself soon.

I'm 6'1 and 130kg and I'll be putting a Velo bucket in the Spinter once everything else is done. I want a seat with a bit of depth so I don't feel like im sitting up in the roof, plus one with a bit of a wider base on it so I can get my arse in there comfortably lol. I've sat in some Recaro's and a Sparco and I reckon they are a bit tight unless you're relatively slim.

I dunno about the height, as im only 6' even, but ive had a terrible back for the past 14 years sob story later, i find the RA60/65 seats quite comfortable. Much better than ra23, ra40, KE laser, KE30,55,70 corolla, 80 series landcruiser, honda civic, hyundai excel last 2 shapes, ford foulcans all models till 99, fairlanes all models till 94, commodores all models up to VX, early 90's subaru liberty, corona RT131,142avante.

I would assume the MA61 seats to be based on the RA60/65, but with better side support.

Now that's the sort of information i'm looking for! thanks o_man_ra23!
I'll have to see if i can find some xA6x seats to test my bum (and back) in!

Anyone else with experience like that?

Thanks for the other seat info too you lot. Maybe I will have to look into some buckets. I wanted to keep it sort of stock looking. Initially buckets are a turn-off as I feel lots of wanna-bee's install buckets, but I'd love some more support when cornering, yes.

Shane, where do you install recaro's? as in, what establishment?
