    Default Trutrac into MA61

To those that have fitted a Trutrac into their MA61 (or cressida, or whatever else!), how have you found it over time? My experience with the standard F LSD has been that it doesn't work that well, wears out, and is quite breakable. Is the Trutrac really The Answer?

Also, where is the best place to buy them these days?

josh & I imported them from the USA... total cost landed was in the $750 range (pm joorsh for exact numbers).

    Then fitting, bearings, fluids etc.
Mine feels *great*. off the line it feels almost like a locker it's that tight.. cornering both rears are lighting up together, no single spinning action. it's only been in for a few hundred kms, but highly recommended if you're planning on keeping that f-series for a while.

Yep - can second that. My car seems to have a lot more grip coming out of the corners since I fitted the trutrac.
Before I bought mine I was reading about one of the blokes in the US who had blown up 4 standard diffs behind a 7MGTE. No more issues once he put the trutrac in.
I think bbaacchhyy has a trutrac centre for sale at the moment?

    Regards

My Truetrac was lovely. The XX has stupid amounts of grip coming out of corners. It is very toight, will chirp coming out of the occasional driveway. Never open wheels. Some of the best money I spent.

As for where to buy, the US is your best bet. Rabidchimp.com is a decent place for ease of purchase.

I went through 1 standard f series, then two LSD's before i paid 450 and got it fully rebuilt and tightened up, (alot) and has been fine since. Dropping burnouts and it loves it, has never single spun. Got it done at a diff place in Hornsby, cant rem exact names but in the back of the industrial area obviulsy.
    Thanks Paul

"Nachi 50KB80ILT" are the correct bearings for stock fitment. ($40-$60 a bearing)

Other options are stock bearings and machine truetrak to suit (expensive $80+ a bearing + machining)
    Or use Hilux bearings and machine a collar/ring to suit ($20 a bearing + $20 a ring)

As for wear and reliability, I think I was the first to get a TrueTrac out of this lot and I'm pretty certain I give it a bigger caning than anyone else, but two and a half years on it's given no trouble whatsoever, doesn't make any bad noises and still works just as well as the day I installed it (ie brilliantly). I can't recommend it highly enough for street and occasional circuit use.

Yeah, a mate got his commodore done there a couple of years ago, reckons its the best money he's spent on his car, the guy was great to deal with, good price etc, but i can't remember the name either

A friend and I got a locker lockright diff for our ma61s.

Its a 4wd locker out of a front of a landcruser, I think. Any way its made for a f series diff .
Its a bit noisey at first but its gettin quiter as it wears in.
It cost us $600 walk in with the diff then pick up the next day, no more to pay bar for the oil.

I havent driven on mine yet but my mate said its a lot better then the one in his ma70 which is a torsen lsd.

    Cheers
