Hi,
Got a pic?
You can try Windex as that removes most stuff on glass, plus it's good for polishing up chrome.
Failing that, you can try a litte bit of Eucalyptus oil on a soft cloth and see how that goes.

Anyone had/have this problem with water stains/marks built up on the side mirrors and windshield ? Any way on removing this DIY ?..I.e. using toilet bowl cleaner or something like that ?
Cheers

It'll come off when you wash the car?
Hi,
You could try Ajax (the powdered stuff for bathrooms). I've successfully used it to clean "road grime" off my windscreen.

Your absolute best bet for getting any crud, off any glass, is very fine steel wool. Removes paint overspray, and water spots !

Vinegar or Eucalyptus oil shifts a lot of stains.

CLR is designed to shift what you want to get rid of, which is a calcium buildup.

i'd suggest not using any kind of abrasive cleaner like ajax, i guess its personal choice, but i recon it might scratch your glass.
metho is good for stuff like that.
I think this guy is referring to the water marks that can not be removed by window cleaners, the method Chuck described will work and some car detailers use a fine paste to do it also.
My first corolla had this issue on the side windows and the polishing paste gently removed the water marks and brought the windows up like new.
A lot of show cars actually take the windows to glass shops and have the water marks professionally buffed out.
What the guy asked is not a stupid question like a few people have eluded toNo doubt he tried all the conventional window cleaners and couldn't remove the marks so he has sought some advice before trying anything harsher - a sensible thing to do I would have thought.

Hi all...thanks for all the reply/advice etc...sorry for the late response..was to caught up with work...YLD-16L...BINGO..exactly..None of the the 'usual' remedies work..I.e Vinegar..etc.
I will try the Eucalyptus oil, AJAX ?? will it remove paint ?Finest steel wool ?IT will scratch the glass..Some have suggested toothpaste..Autosol GOLD..and so on..My idea is if it's something like a toilet bowl cleaner can do the job DIY and at less or NO cost

I'd like to try it..besides I dont have the luxury time to take the car to the detailers every time the stains build up again...I hope my explanation helps. Please keep the ideas coming..
IF I find an easy solution..I will pass it along.
Cheers
Dispatcher.
toothpaste isn't a bad idea its about the mildest abrasive paste you can find. very fine steel wool isn't a bad idea either..
what about those 'clay bars' they are supposed to pull overspray off glass pretty good?
ummm... CLR!
dude, the product is called "calcium, lime, rust"
it is exactly what your looking for.

"D" using steel wool, was advice I have received from a guy that has had 20 years experience in the auto industry. 15 years as a widscreen fitter, used by all the perfectionists in Canberra.
Fine steel wool wiil NOT scratch your glass, it will NOT scratch your chrome/ stainless steel trim.
Auto boby repair shops use steel wool for removing overspray from glass.
