check all your heater hoses too if ones slightly bent or folded it will reduce a lil flow, what happens when u start it with the rad cap off can u see any flow?and when she get fairly hot and the thermostat opens is the relay pipe to teh radiator hot or warm?

before the fan was fixed i couldnt stop in a driveway or at the lights for more than 10 seconds before it would start to overheat. now im running 1 16" fan and a sard thermostat, it still overheats a tiny bit if im stuck in a fast food drive thru for longer than 20minsbut i reckon the fan isnt spinning at top speed and im not running any shroud at all. I cant say what temps it was getting upto exactly because my stock gauge was stuffed and I didnt let it overheat long enough to hook any seperate gauges upto it
are u running a 2JZ water pump?
nope standard 1jz water pump
how new is it? have you thought about a new 2JZ item?i have one with two thermo fans and since ive owned its never gone over 180F except when i broke the water temp plug
I havnt really given much thought to the 2JZ pump, what are the differences between the two? I have given alot of thought towards using 2 thermos though
Okay, last night we done a TK Head test, whichshowed up NOTHING. No blown head gasket it would appear. I've taken my radiator out and im going to take it down to a shop today to get flow and pressure tested. If you start it with the cap off, you can see the water churning through the radiator, so there is definatly flow, of some sort. It doesnt have a thermostat in there at the moment, so thats not an option. The thermofan is sucking air from the front of the car, through the radiator and into the engine bay, so they are definatly working the right way.
I just have a brand new 1JZ pump, minus the whole hydraulic oil fan setup, so that shouldnt be the problem. I know this may seem like a long shot, but if the Wolf isn't tuned and running like shit, could that cause it by some way to overheat/heat up quickly? Just a thought.
if the radiator shows up all good, fill the car again with water, leave the cap off, let the car idle, the water will boil before it gets to 100 deg, so the temp on the guage shouldn't go past 100.
When you installed the fan on the engine side of the radiator did you pull the blades off and turn them over and re-install? The fans come from factory configured to blow away from the fan motor not towards it.
Youd best be putting that thermostat in straight away that would be making your car run a bit shit cause the wolf would be in cold start mode for ages. Also if your timing is massively retarded the engine will tend to run hot aswell.
Yeah, they come from the shop to blow upstream, i pulled the blade out and tured it round so it was configured for downstream. The timing is more massivly advanced then retarded. I went and spoke to a workshop in Brookvale (Bromspec) and he said that the tune could have a lot to do with it, so am taking it down there on monday to chuck it on the Dyno, and give it a better tune then what it has. Hopefully this should sort out some overheating issues.Originally Posted by Skip
The engine warms up pretty quickly considering it has no thermostat in it at the moment, but i will be definatly putting on back in as soon as this heating problem has been sorted![]()
hows the progress on all of this going?
any news?
